      Get experience, then get out.

Nov 27, 2021 - Dispatcher in Tampa, FL
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Used to be a great place to work. -Nice work space. -Great place to get fuel experience starting out.

      Cons

-Way too much drama/gossip/attitudes in one open space. -All members of management were either rude, not helpful, not supportive or uncaring. Lots of lip service. Lots of favoritism occurred within all departments. -They will not approve PTO for a single day if you’re a dispatcher. You have to switch/trade days with another dispatcher. -You are expected to stay until the work is done regardless of circumstance or situation. For example: the power/internet goes out. You must stay until your dispatch is complete. Even if it’s hours. -You will not get paid overtime or get extra time off to compensate you for your lost time. I worked for free nearly everyday. -Managers will up and leave even if dispatch/drivers need help. -The workload given is too much to complete within a 12 hour shift depending on the account you’re responsible for. -Not a place to grow or make into a career. Work for a couple of years and then move on. You will hit the glass window very quickly. -Being kind gets you no where there. Drivers/other employees and management will prey on you, take advantage of you and talk about you behind your back. -You get called in on your day off frequently. Managers very rarely will cover for another employee. You will not get paid for this. -Drivers run the show, you will get cursed at and screamed at by them. They will cause a scene. Management will be present and no nothing. Often times they will even attempt to justify their actions. -HR is a joke. Don’t even waste your time. They won’t return your call. -You technically get a hour lunch but if you take the hour lunch you run the risk of not getting out on time because you’re doing the work of two people. You will also be badmouthed for taking your break if you do. -The phone never stops ringing. -Certain members of dispatch heavily use drugs and nobody in management cares or will drug test. They are aware. -The turn over rate is extremely high. Most people who are hired in as dispatchers do not stay. The ones that are still there would leave if a better opportunity came around in an instant. -No Christmas bonus. -No incentives. -No team builds/activities. -The onboard computer systems on the trucks are the worst. -Unpaid training. -Don’t even bother asking for a raise. You’ll get lied to or told to be patient, or just no. Regardless of years worked. I could go on and on, please avoid this place if possible. They do not care about their dispatchers. Ask anyone who has the misfortune of still working there.

Okay if you’re starting your career

      Pros

Good place if you’re starting out your career. Great learning opportunity. Company picnics and events are great. On-site cafeteria is a bonus.

      Cons

Company culture/environment has changed and not for the better. Extremely clique based and toxic, differs heavily depending on the department you’re in. Makes it very hard to advance unless you’re apart of the high school drama. Lots of politics & micromanaging. Too many people in charge. PTO could be better.
