I have been working at Kendall Regional Medical Center full-time

    Pros

    Nice staff
    Good Preceptors
    Awesome DIrector
    Nice doctors

    Cons

    Disorganized
too fast paced whether quality care is minimal
    too many patients.

    Advice to Management

Make ratios 5:1, or 6:1 on medical surgical floors. ICU 2:1.
Hire more Nurse techs so they aren't overwhelmed and don't have so many patients. That's not quality at all.

I have been working at Kendall Regional Medical Center part-time

    Pros

They pay well even if you have a lack of experience. You learn a lot since it is a trauma center.

    Cons

It is a for profit hospital so they may say patients come first but it will always be Profits over Patients. They like to clean house towards the end of the year to balance their budget sheet.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so scared of corporate and actually stand up to be a patient and employee advocate. We can't do the proper care that is needed sometimes because of the budget cuts.

I have been working at Kendall Regional Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There really aren't any other than the pay is somewhat decent. It's a good place if you have no experience bc you really don't know what is good or bad.

    Cons

I have a lot of experience! I have worked at several hospitals across the country! I wouldn't even take my dog here.

First patients have no privacy! All the rooms are semi-private.

Secondly the nurses are very rude! And everything is a stat!

Thirdly people aren't even certified in my department. They have no clue when it comes to medication safety and handling hazardous or toxic drugs.

They make pharmacy stock the OR during the day interrupting surgeries to stock Pyxis machines when it should be done at night.
The OR is never fully stocked and constantly running out of meds.

They set unreasonable expectations. They make you interrupt the nurses so they can witness you fill narcotics such a waste of time and errors are occurring more so than ever because the nurse witnessing is a constant distraction.

They have way to many restrictions in place making it difficult to even do your job.

IV'S aren't being made in accordance with 797 regulations!

People are constantly leaving never enough staff.

    Poor support from leadership.

They believe in seniority so if you start here you have no value! You won't get vacations or the time off that you want and you will be stuck in crappy positions bc the people that have seniority feel they shouldn't have to perform certain job functions.

I worked at Kendall Regional Medical Center part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours, nice and friendly staff.

    Cons

Low pay, bottom of the barrel, constantly micro-managed, AWFUL PARKING!

    Advice to Management

Transporters are not an expense they are an investment.
