I worked at Kennedy Child Study Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

New management has started to be brought in. Changes were made little by little but not for the benefit of the employees. Raises have become scarce. Many employees left for opppotunity.

    Cons

Pension was taken away. Administration persons who have worked here for many years have slowly exited one by one. It was sad to see people who were part if the school's foundation leave.

I worked at Kennedy Child Study Center full-time

    Pros

This place was a pleasure to come to work to. The staff was great, the administration knew exactly what had to be done and we all helped each other. It was a family and we loved each other.

    Cons

this is a sinking ship. the new administrators are absolutely clueless. too many changes at once and none are for the better. they do not respect or appreciate senior staff. a raise is out of the question and morale is VERY low. it is truly a shame. This place use to be a pleasure to work for. Also, you should worry about a place that lets go the entire HR department.

    Advice to Management

get to know your job and your employees before making sweeping changes.

I have been working at Kennedy Child Study Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The teachers and therapist work very hard with little support, guidance or acknowledgment (either monetarily or with a "good job") by anyone in management.

    Cons

This use to be such lovely place to work. The staff genuinely loved each other and supported each other. Management knew what it was doing and it was a finely tunes machine. Unfortunately, an new executive director was brought in who believes that the agency belongs to her and has brought in friends, family, and friends of friends to manage the agency. Each of the appointees is extremely under qualified to run the agency and it shows. Those in the know left agency in droves. The amount of staff that left in a year is staggering and scary. The teaching staff know consists of temps who have no idea how to teach and who do not care to teach...I don't blame them though they were brought in as bodies to keep in compliance nothing else. It's a shame.

    Advice to Management

HIRE NEW MANAGEMENT who has a clue and some experience (and credentials) running a non for profit agency. But frankly this place is doomed.

I worked at Kennedy Child Study Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with a great teacher staff

    Cons

    No advancements whatsoever. Very Disturbing.

    Advice to Management

The Bronx board director should have an excellent relationship with his or her staff. Also teachers shouldn't have their salaries docked before deciding if he or she can work during the summer time. I have known for a fact that minority teachers are under paid compared to caucasion teachers.

I worked at Kennedy Child Study Center full-time

    Pros

The best part of working here was the time off. You need those days off in order to maintain your sanity.

    Cons

Upper management (a.k.a the 6th floor) is dishonest and engages in shady business practices - often hiring friends and family members who lack the required experience and New York State certifications for classroom and leadership positions.

Compensation needs to be re-evaluated. Staff is paid far less than they would be at other schools.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to get to know your employees, compensate fairly and consider qualified internal employees for promotions instead of hiring unqualified friends for management positions. They are not "beneath you." They work hard often in understaffed classrooms, get paid little, and still manage to make this a great place for the kids who attend the school.

    Pros

For the most part, direct service staff are very dedicated to giving the children the best services possible.

    Cons

Lack of formal management training for many managers at the company.
