I worked at Kennedy Information as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

If this company was not in Keene, NH, I'd still be there. Great team. Starting there they were super helpful and open to new people. Overall, great office environment and definitely a great career company.

    Cons

In my opinion, just the location.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Kennedy Information full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Because it was recently adopted into the Bloomberg network via Bloomberg's purchase of BNA Kennedy is poised to gain access to greater business resources than ever before. The people there are generally very friendly.

    Cons

The work atmosphere was very strange, many people never came into the office because they worked from home. They are moving to a new building very shortly so I can not speak to the new environment.

I worked at Kennedy Information full-time

    Pros

    it was an interesting market

    Cons

felt like a library, open concept is terrible, very little flexibility or understanding of employees personal needs.

    Advice to Management

be more understanding of employees personal needs. treat people the way you would like to be treated.

  7. "Employee and management turnover; so rules and work are changing; but the one constant is fighting fires."

    Pros

In some cases you are given the freedom to work your own way (but see note about creativity). Hours are very flexible, and you can work from home a couple of days each week. The workplace is very casual and friendly. The company has some great clients and working with them can be interesting.

    Cons

Senior management lacks strong business and people skills. The new COO has inherited a business in need of repair. Morale is low and there is a lot of turnover. Attempts by new managers to improve how work gets done have been unsuccessful. Creativity is not encouraged - all products are supposed to look the same. IT support is insufficient.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with the workforce. Provide good technology tools. Reward people with praise when they succeed. It takes more than lunches and an ice cream truck to improve morale.

  8. "Kennedy Information is just as dysfunctional as IDC"

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Work-life balance is not bad unless management starts waffling and demands last minute changes without pushing out the publication date.

    Cons

Dysfunctional management team coupled with a publishing business model makes it impossible to functional as a professional market research/industry analyst firm.

Most analysts hired do not have direct experience in their research areas and yet are tasked with writing in-depth "term-papers" and presenting themselves as experts to their clients.

Analysts are not encouraged to attend industry conferences due to lack of T&E budget available...which suggests the company is not on firm financial ground.

    Advice to Management

Decide if Kennedy should operate as a publishing company or as a real market research/industry analyst firm.
