I have been working at Kennedy Krieger Institute full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Room for growth, annual raises. Decent benefits. If you have a supportive manager, there is always room for growing and learning. Training opportunities always available.

    Cons

Maternity leave not a great package. Annual raises not based on performance. It can be very challenging to get things done sometimes because there's a policy and procedure in place for absolutely everything.

I worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute full-time

    Pros

Does good work for patients and families

    Cons

    So many to even name!

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to be totally overhauled. that hasn't been done for 30 years - they are stuck in the old ways and need to get in touch with their employees. It is a toxic work environment! Game playing, favoritism, and work politics is not the culture needed for developing and cultivating employees for long-term satisfaction.

    Pros

Im sure the culture and diversity in the company is great.

    Cons

The care management department is the worse Run. The Director and management staff here is a joke. They have high favoritism in the department so if you not in with the clicks you can forget it. Not worth the stress and hassle they put you through.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the director, and train properly.

I worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute full-time

    Pros

    Nursing staff
    Therapist
Working with families that are honest

    Cons

Management only cares about money and making patients happy when they mistreat or lie about staff
Staff is never acknowledged for positive only negative
Takes way too long for things to get done to care for patients
Would not want my family to admit

    Advice to Management

    Back your employees
Focus on what really matters and stop being the cause for so many unhappy employees
You focus on negative but never on positive

I worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

very rewarding if you like the population you're working with, very up-to-date on current research and evidence-based practices, sites that receive more funding (like CARD) treat their employees very well, good benefits. My rating to recommend to a friend is with conditions (depends on which position they would be applying for)

    Cons

depending on the site/ the funding, the direct-care-workers (aides) do not get treated as well as employees in "higher" positions, low pay

    Advice to Management

invest in direct care workers, they are the people that have the most contact with the students/ clients
