    Awesome Interview Process

    Jun 21, 2022 - Management Consultant

    Pros

I did not come from a consulting background, and I felt so welcomed and like my background was really understood during the interview process. I met such incredible and intelligent individuals throughout the process and thus felt confident going into round.

    Cons

Smaller Company so the onboarding is not the same as it is at a large one. It is much more customized.

Progressive Company that Cares about the Individual

Oct 19, 2021 - Management Consultant in Chicago, IL

    Pros

Kenway is a refreshing place to work. The leadership is transparent and truly wants what is best for their clients. They provide employee training and are forward thinking in regards to DEI and supporting your individual needs. When you start, you are assigned a new hire buddy, career counselor and small group (called Theta group) where you can get to know teammates and have a safe space to discuss concerns, company trainings, etc. Very intelligent co-workers and collaborative environment too!

    Cons

The work is challenging, but it's a great place to be if you want to grow. The only real negative for me was the sheer number of Zoom calls I was on, but that is part of a customer-facing role. It just comes with the territory.

Fast-paced with the ability to develop many different skills in the scaling of a growing company

    Sep 7, 2021 - Management Consultant

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Ability to gain experience in several different industries and capabilities - Able to contribute to the growth of a scaling company - Work on preferred type of projects through open-ended communication with staffing - Can fulfill an internal function in addition to client work if desired - If interested in industry/capability without experience, ability to immediately develop skills through training or an entry level position on a project

    Cons

    - Can at times be asked to divide work week across more than one project, which is great for someone who enjoys context switching

    Wide range of cross-functional experience

    Nov 16, 2021 - Management Consultant
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Internal experiences can be analogous to working at a startup, i.e., high exposure to multiple business functions - marketing, finance, operations, HR - Above market compensation (assuming aggressive bonuses) - Generous PTO & Expense policy - Minimal travel - High level of operational transparency

    Cons

    - Small firm, limited project opps, staff-aug roles are common at certain anchor clients - Low base salary, aggressive bonusing (employees may find themselves worried about how something will impact their year-end bonus; workaholic culture) - Common for technical resources (jr. or sr.) to be staffed on 2 or more projects: high switching costs, low effective productivity

Fantastic people and an engaging, challenging, and collaborative environment

    Oct 13, 2021 - Anonymous Employee
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Heavy emphasis on maintaining positive culture from leadership down to entry level employees. Interesting, challenging work. Great work life balance with ability to ramp hours up or down.

    Cons

Depends on what your career interests are. If you're looking for a big, international consulting firm then this probably isn't for you.

The company that you always wanted to work for

Feb 18, 2020 - Consultant in Chicago, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Kenway is a great place to work. At it's best, Kenway is always a work in-progress. Leadership is constantly encouraging employees to build the company that they always wanted to work for. Employees are given the opportunities to design their own career paths by taking ownership of deliverables, projects and internal initiatives. Working at Kenway is like working at a small start-up. Not only will you become a pro at project delivery, but you can get experience helping out/leading HR, Sales and/or Operations team initiatives It's an exciting time to be at Kenway given the company's ambitious growth goals, new Scottsdale office and recent acquisition. Work-life balance is great, relative to corporate America. The world is your oyster.

    Cons

Kenway is best understood as a Libertarian culture. Given the emphasis on big bonuses, freedom and respecting the individual, employees can be siloed and there's a bit of a workaholic culture that can be offputting. Sometimes there is a general lack of joy or happiness in the work environment because employees are too consumer or stressed because they are worried about how x,y,z will impact their end of year bonus. Ultimately, Kenway is what you make of it and processes that support and enable employees could be improved. To leadership's credit, many of the internal initiatives are focused on this.

    Principle Based Management Consulting

Oct 19, 2020 - Management Consultant in Chicago, IL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Kenway is a culture first firm and is rooted in Guiding Principles. Rather than trying to make a buck, Kenway aims to be a trusted advisor to clients. This leads to strong client relationships and helping with interesting consulting projects. Kenway also encourages work-life harmony but treating everyone is a unique manner. There are no expectations for 80 hour work weeks or working weekends.

    Cons

Kenway isn't for everybody. If you don't have a lot of drive or ambition this won't be a good fit. Comp is above market but has a higher variable component that other consulting firms.
