I worked at Kenya Power full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The internship programme provides students with vital hands on experience gained through extensive field exposure. Electrical engineering students could benefit a lot with the programme

    Cons

There's Limited interaction with senior engineers where one could get good mentorship and network easily.

Also, I was only stationed in one department (O&M) all through the attachment period instead of being rotated to other departments. (For KPLC - Nakuru)

    Advice to Management

The attachment programme should be made more effective by introducing rotations within the different departments unlike being stationed in only one department for significant period of the internship.

I worked at Kenya Power full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Kenya Power is an equal opportunity employer,
There are many departments which give a wide range of experience,
The vision and mission kept me focused on productivity hence my skills, talents and expertise were utilized to quite a good level,
Kenya Power has an excellent career progression structure,
The company offers excellent benefits package with very good salary and medical benefits for self and family

    Cons

The recent decision to base promotions on academic qualifications more than job performance has caused some discouragement on the real workers who work with zeal and commitment.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider career progression for the COMMITTED performers with more seriousness, otherwise keep up the good work. For me, KENYA POWER IS THE BEST EMPLOYER IN KENYA
