    Pros

Not many micro managers, plenty of opportunities to grow

I worked at Key Safety Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company, decent pay and benefits, insurance is expensive but good.

    Cons

Bad management, human resources is probably the worst at this specific company.
    Poor utilization of employees.
No room for advancement unless you have connections.

    Advice to Management

Start being there for your hourly employees and standing up for them as much as you stand up for the salary employees. A clean out of management in this particular facility would benefit the company greatly, the turn over rate is high and mostly because of poor management.

I worked at Key Safety Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary (but boy you have to fight for it, it's not going to be offered), flexibility with time, better than average holidays

    Cons

Management does not interface with other layers of the workforce. I worked in the same area for 17 years and never even saw the CEO, President or executives; poor (nonexistent) communication, little to no value placed on technical competence -- those with a 6th grade education (and commensurate skill set) are called "Associate Engineers" I wish that I were exaggerating. Absolutely numb HR (better to call them Corporate Resources) though this is likely true at many companies; inconsistent treatment/rules across departments (in the same building); blatant favoritism (i.e. management hiring/promoting friends/family over more competent) good performance not recognized, poor morale, poor facilities and maintenance, constant emergencies due to poor planning and the lack of management's ability to establish effective short or long term objectives; employees are not held to performance standards (and are not reviewed consistently)

    Advice to Management

Find out what your employees want. Talk to them. It's only a trip down the stairs -- you can do it! Get some qualified staff and technical acumen in the mix. You get what you pay for, EVERY single person I used to think of as an "expert" or resource has left or was driven out of the company during my >20 year tenure.
