I worked at KeyBank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, Solid benefits, Solid staff. Infrastructure Technology being upgraded, and remote work opportunities being supported.

    Cons

Too many "in it for themselves", grandstanding middle mgmt, in some instances manipulating their staff to promote themselves to those above.

So called "Key values" just a lot of empty talk.

Msmy have "pets", and dishonest with their staff.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about talking to the staff about those above them. Many senior people leaving because of the manipulations going on

I worked at KeyBank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some benefits perks that are nice. As a online banking rep u make 13/hr. You can supposedly transfer after a year. Can't really think of much else.

    Cons

They don't have an open door policy, you go to talk about issues they flip it back on you & try to make it seem like your causing problems. They have shift bids so you aren't guaranteed to keep the shift that you start with. The managers are never on the same page. There systems are constantly having issues so customers are 80% of the time not happy. No accountability when you submit feedback because another rep doesn't want to do there job. You have set break times & if you go early or late it messes with your numbers. Very gossipy department

    Advice to Management

Your employees are the ones you should want to make happy so in turn they can make the customer happy. Not make it a us vs them thing & maybe your turnover rate wouldn't be so high

    Pros

    Work from home options available
The company is very supportive of a work-life balance
    Great community bank
    Good place to work

    Cons

Too many reorgs happen every year
    Lots of jobs being outsourced
They do not try to retain talent

    Advice to Management

Make decisions with your employees first in mind and ensure that the goal is on long term planning for the bank

I worked at KeyBank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A few exceptional people. Corporate bank a good place to be, but that is the only good place - avoid Community bank.

    Cons

RIFs routine due to frequent major changes to strategy. Bonus payouts inconsistent and devoid of transparency - manager discretion dictated payout based on funding pool.

    Advice to Management

Develop a thoughtful strategy and see it through to fruition. Employees on eggshells with constant threat of job loss.

I have been working at KeyBank (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good Benefits
Flexible Work Schedule - work remote capability
Enjoy the team I work with very much

    Cons

    Extremely slow-moving and bureaucratic
    Risk averse to the extreme
Physical work environment (Higbee Bldg in Cleveland) is the worst I've been exposed to in my 30+ year career in business

    Advice to Management

Start treating people like people instead of an expense line on an income statement. 8 years with KeyBank, and I've personally witnessed many dozens of quality people leave both voluntarily and from layoff. In the rare instance they've been replaced, the quality of the replacement was a step down.

I worked at KeyBank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, time off policies, co-workers

    Cons

Chaotic, toxic, dysfunctional, ongoing organizational changes and layoffs

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees than you do the balance sheet. Focus on reducing expense ratio has resulted in poor morale, dysfunctional work environment, bad reputation as a place to work. Sad to see this company go from a great place to work to a place where no one wants to work.
