Too Good to be True
Feb 11, 2023 - Social Media Coordinator in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There is great work life balance for the most part, and some of the nicest peers I’ve ever worked with. I loved being creative every day and the laid back nature of the position.
Cons
The senior management is horrendous and we lost the CEO and many top players in the span of a few months. There is no room for growth and what little opportunities are available are given on the base of favoritism. Was laid off even though the company was making profit- I deeply feel this company is unethical and does not value their people the way they say they do. The pay is not enough so the turnover is the worst I’ve ever seen. So much amazing talent walked out just coming down to brass tax.

You'll be working hard, having fun, learning things and then...
Mar 6, 2023 - Social Media Coordinator in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- competitive compensation - remote work with great culture and the resources to facilitate that - decentralized management, responsible to leads on various projects, which enables a variety of experiences and learning opportunities - restructuring to address process gaps and training issues facing the Strategic Services business segment
Cons
- no clear paths to advancement - insufficient training available to become proficient in proprietary products; it's sink or swim - 'work hard, play hard' approach, but mostly it was work hard, work hard, work hard....

Pros
The work-life balance was incredible, I was able to work with some high profile clients, and my coworkers were amazing. It was a fun, creative environment and I always felt supported by my fellow team and associate strategists.
Cons
Things did a total 180 once the new CEO came on board. I understand that a change was made to cut costs, that's business. But continuing to lay off employees while making money, and using the excuse of budget cuts, is cowardly and pathetic.

Good benefits, great collaboration & inclusive atmosphere
Cons
Low-level management is unorganized, frantic, micromanaging, and unprofessional. It's very hard to do your job when multiple different sets of instructions are constantly handed out.

Pros
Khoros used to be a really lively place to work. I and my team were always enthusiastic to come to work because we loved the culture and the work we did. Once leadership swapped and we got the current CEO (just as others have said) it’s gone so far downhill it won’t come back. Two layoffs and they refuse to disclose the number of people affected by the second one. They haven’t promoted since last summer. New organizational “plan” is a half thought, not even close to fleshed out. I could say more but it would take too much time. I miss the company khoros used to be.
Cons
At this point, everything. We’re overworked, there’s no culture, the pay is SO low, c level leadership is embarrassing

Not what it used to be...

Remote A lot of great talent That's where it ends. Khoros used to be a great place to work. While not as big as the Sprinklr, ICUC, or Hootsuite of the world, Khoros was a fantastic place to be. Full of energetic and knowledgeable team members, leadership truly cared about the people they led, and everyone was well-connected and informed. Logging into work at Khoros was something you genuinely looked forward to. Your work was valued, your time was important, and the projects you partook in felt meaningful. Oddly enough, you looked FORWARD to company or department meetings because leadership was always so energetic, engaging, upbeat, and made it felt like fun. Then we began to see some high-level names depart. First, it started with a couple of Strategic Services Directors, then some higher-level management, and eventually the CEO and COO. In came the corporate vultures. Since the new leadership came in, employee demeanor is down, confidence in the company has tanked, work quality hasn't been where it once was, and communication from upper leadership has been either non-existent or misleading. It wasn't long before the layoffs began. The first round was in November, which was EGREGIOUSLY mishandled. To the point where one person was laid off...then rehired less than a month later. Upper leadership had no remorse of any kind, if anything using verbiage like "Mission Complete" once the layoff process ended. At the end of the layoffs, the remaining employees, myself included, were told that was the end of it. They had already planned for 2023, so no need for more. And then an abrupt department-wide calendar invite was sent for an event scheduled 30 mins later. Another round of layoffs. Another terribly handled process. Severance was trash, even for some very well-tenured employees. We were "lucky" to get health insurance until the end of the month...in the shortest month of the year and already 8 days into it. And a few weeks out and many are still dealing with inconsistencies in getting their severance pay, among other things. Oh, and severance is taxed as a bonus or commission payment. So 35-40% is taken out. Khoros has all its eggs in Facebook/Meta. Since Meta has been on a downward slope, so has Khoros. I guess no one making 6-figures ever thought that putting all your eggs into one basket was a bad idea, yet here we are. If Khoros loses that contract, its game over. Khoros is still full of absolutely wonderful and talented people. But they are jumping ship fast. Losing leadership already ruffled some features, the first round of layoffs sent more people running, and then seeing that upper leadership lied through their teeth and had another round of layoffs has a mass exodus occurring. If you're looking at Khoros, don't. It is run by typical corporate shills now who are merely there to ensure the venture capitalists who bought the place get their profits. Nothing more, nor less. However, in the process, they have severed some serious connections with existing and prior employees as well as business partners. There are many more options out there like ICUC, Sprinklr, Sprout, G2, Canva, and more. There are also tons of agencies and brands looking for social media work. Do yourself a favor and just apply to all of these instead and keep Khoros off your list of possible employers. Until the corporate garbage is out, Khoros will be a less-than-desirable place to work. I'm all about profits, it's the name of the game. But when you can't find a balance between profits and employee morale and care then you are destined to have mediocre work and ultimately fail. I hope all my friends at Khoros jump ship sooner than later. They deserve so much more.
Cons
Leadership Owned by an investment firm Poor management Lost the work ethic and energy once present
