    Pros

Fast moving environment. Great products. Willingness to win. Quick decision making.

    Cons

There are two worlds: the Korean and the local. All important management positions are doubled up with a "watchdog" or shadow manager called coordinator. They constantly report to HQ in Korea and you don't know what they Report. In their culture it is difficult to bring bad news or to say that a certain information is not a ailable, so without any problem they will forge numbers or make them up in order to report in time. When the errors come out and it blows up with management the Westerner is fired and the coordinator just gets another job in the company somewhere in the world. Basically it is a racist culture (apartheid) with Koreans bs others.

    Advice to Management

    No more coordinators.

    Pros

Nice cafeteria and work out facility.

    Cons

Culture and shadow management. Very unforgiving environment under President Sohn. Regardless of performance of the individual, no bonuses for any U.S. Staff after record sales in 2015. I have worked for 4 OEM's and this is by far, the worst culture to work in.

    Advice to Management

It wouldn't matter. The K staff isn't going to change or improve for at least a generation.

I worked at Kia Motors America (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, mostly friendly employees.

    Cons

Terrible Korean manager. Sat in office doing nothing yet made unreasonable demands at any time without knowing what was going on. Rude, late to meetings, asked questions in meetings we'd already covered wasting our valuable time. Huge lack of communication such as vehicle order changes yet somehow expect employees to always know what was going on.

    Advice to Management

    Transparency and competency are key.

I worked at Kia Motors America full-time

    Pros

    - Benefits
    - Competitive Salary
    - Annual bonus
    - On site gym with lunch time and after work classes (yoga, boot camp, etc)

    Cons

    - Slow to change
    - Very strict/structured hierarchy
    - Finance department acts as a gatekeeper to any and all initiatives

    Advice to Management

The Executive Coordinator role needs to be clearly defined. Finance needs to ease up on their stranglehold of company initiatives.
