I worked at Kiawah Island Golf Resort full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

excellent learning environment, beautiful area, good benefits, Hotel is under good leadership

    Cons

no family time, at all! long drive back and forth to island.

    Advice to Management

give consideration to hours expected from management.

I have been working at Kiawah Island Golf Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Gain Experience ( Put Kiawah on your resume and it looks amazing)
    - beautiful Location
    - a lot of caring co-workers
    - being able to kayak/golf for either free or really low prices

    Cons

    - Horrible Pay
    - Horrible working conditions (rats and mold)
    - slow response time to fixing problems (dead rats in traps for days, black mold for weeks)
    - Management more apt to pick friends for the few promotions rather than who is most qualified
    - expect employees to create an amazing experience for guest with horrible/minimal supplies
    - No room to move up/ difficult to transfer to another department
    - if you go to HR with problems, they are often swept under the rug
    - extremely high turnover ( Ive been here just over a year and over 20 full time employees have quit, without any repercussions for management)
    - management expects you to do multiple jobs (because people quit and they dont fill the positions so they dont have to pay more people) with out proper compensation

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees more, if they deserve it; provide better working environments (rat and mold free); train your managers better/hold them responsible for the high turnover

I have been working at Kiawah Island Golf Resort full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employees are empowered ambassadors to support the companies mission statement. All golf courses are Audoban Certified and built with nature conservation in mind.

    Cons

Two lane roads to and from the resort. Traffic can back up easily, so always allow extra time.

    Advice to Management

    Be open to new ideas.

I have been working at Kiawah Island Golf Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits if you live near the Island and don't mind the commute. Golf discounts and health care are a plus.

    Cons

Low pay especially if you need to travel to get to work not worth the drive. Starting salaries are almost fixed and significantly lower than other companies with far more duties not worth the trouble.

    Advice to Management

Need to do internal reviews and checks of departments to ensure everyone follows company policies.

I worked at Kiawah Island Golf Resort full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a great community to learn about the art of hospitality and client relations. The respect level all employees have for the guests of the island is a real testament to the company.

    Cons

The work life balance is not the best, as all salaried jobs in hospitality seem to be. Also, the salaries are not competitive enough to really keep the quality managers on site.

    Advice to Management

Please invest more into your managers in the form of monetary compensation.
