I worked at Kidco Head Start/Early Head Start full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid time off at Winter and Spring break helps for employees with families. Helping the community and working with great kids and families! I continue to recommend this agency because the benefits are good and the pros outweigh the cons for most employees.

    Cons

Leadership hires from outside the program instead of promoting from within. It's difficult for those who have been there for decades to have suddenly a supervisor who doesn't know the program and constantly changes ideas and incentives. There is very little predictability within leadership roles and employees who have been there a long time are growing resentful when new people come in and move up the ranks with little to NO experience in the Head Start program that has been around for 50 years while some where there in the beginning are getting pushed out.

    Advice to Management

Develop your dedicated, long time employees to grow into leadership rather than hiring from outside the program.

    Pros

There's lots of opportunities to grow and learn about working with children & families. Pay for your tuition to go back to school.

    Cons

Not enough hours or pay for what they expect from teachers. But, they are doing changes, so not sure what that's going to look like next school year 2014-2015
