I have been working at Kiehl's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount, the ability to shop all Loreal products on the company website, the quarterly bonuses, all the gratis, when a new product is launched.

    Cons

Sales pressure when traffic is slow. Retail hours, which can be tough when juggling kids different schedules. Schedules never the same.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.

    Pros

Fun, hardworking, exciting, organized with lots off attention to detail and great education for customer experience.

    Cons

Pay increases are not very good and the hiring process takes a very long time which isn't good if you are looking to start quickly.

    Advice to Management

I think it's important to tell perspective employees about the long wait before getting approval for hire.

    I worked at Kiehl's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are excellent and the company as a whole is a great company to work for. They provide training in all areas of the position.

    Cons

The continued confusion of the expectations were at times overwhelming. The corporate office has a swinging door with new leadership with different ideas. I saw people fired because a new person in the leadership didn't like them. As a district manager, I witnessed employees being removed from meetings and told to change their clothing, as well as being pushed out the door because they disagreed with upper management on an issue.

    Advice to Management

Take your employee complaints seriously. Kiehl's loses excellent talent because of personality differences. The turnover rate is high. When exit interviews aren't done, it's usually HR that cancels or upper management. They don't encourage it when they think it will be negative.

Without advertising, many potential customers have trouble recognizing the brand.

    Pros

Kiehl's has an incredible brand and a lot of extremely talented people that you get to work with. The brand is owned by L'Oreal but with a separate office in a different part of Manhattan it feels like a start-up. Fun working for a brand that is loved by so many!

    Cons

It can feel crazy at times because of the start-up nature of the brand. Things happen quickly, but it is still attached to a very large corporate company which at times felt a bit limiting.

    Advice to Management

Some of my favorite experiences as an intern there were interacting with all of you leaders of the brand and feeling like you were also normal humans.
