    I worked at Kiehl's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great discount on product including L'Oréal branded product.
Not a ton expected of you, or even if there is, it isn't communicated until the very last minute.
1 of every 100 customers was actually nice

    Cons

    Company disorganization through and through.
Treated like children on a consistent basis.
Older than dirt POS systems that make it embarrassing while interacting with customers.
Higher ups not listening to easy job qualms that are fixable.
    Long, thankless hours
    Extremely rude customers

    Advice to Management

To the very higher ups, either spend some time in a store more often, or don't forget what it was like to work in one.
Also, take the discounts and samples down a notch.

I have been working at Kiehl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great products and loyal customers. Nice company history and various locations allow for flexibility. Also has access to other L'Oréal brands

    Cons

Employee compensation could be better as well as hours available. The job seems more suited for young college students which eludes to a lack of future with the company.

    Advice to Management

The hiring process is essential and should be taken seriously.

    I worked at Kiehl's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great gratis offered, perks of just working as part of the L'Oreal organization. Opportunity for growth within the company is there. Specify your objectives for the following years to upper management so they can know how to gauge what should be taught to you in a timely manner.

    Cons

Working in the NYC market can be a matter of "who you know" and favoritism. I lacked support from my store manager and subsequent higher-ups. This kind of treatment puts you in a corner.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employee's opinions and have an unbiased stance on their concerns/comments. You waste employees that actually cared for the business with people that just got there because of someone they knew and now your growth depends on their preference of you.

    Pros

Discounts on quality products that do work. Training educates you about the basics of skin and hair care. Company has a strong following of loyal costumers. Enjoy interacting with a diverse range of clients, including many foreigners who appreciate the products. Learner to take care of my skin and feel amazing :)

    Cons

None. Was lucky to have nice co-workers and managers the best is to work as a team and avoid competition. It is not about the sales but the client experience.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the value of veteran employees

    I worked at Kiehl's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Benefits
    Retirement plan
    Decent big company perks
Room to grow if you put in the work
Travel to meetings, which were nice learning/bonding experiences

    Cons

They worked me to death. For years I climbed the ladder at one of their luxury brands, in store. It paid off.

I worked my way up to my own store, a high producing one at that.

Every other store's deficit was transferred to my goals. My store was transferred product no one could sell, discontinued items, unpopular ones, you name it.

Finally when my Holiday Sales Goals were raised 30% above LY that was the last straw.

After many years of dedicated service to help build this old brand they acquired I was burnt out.

No one seemed to care, my regional had just quit, the new one wanted to clean house. Then I realized the President, who SMs interacted with, didn't care unless you were in his tight inner circle, even if you were still making the brand money. It was over.

So I said goodbye and it's a shame because after the agreed amount of time L'Oréal, was able to change this old apothecary brand into what it is now. I witnessed it happen slowly, i.e. food coloring replacing of a major ingredient, now one of the last ingredients, which is in the name of the product?

Ingredients have been changed, substituted or taken out. It's all about the bottom line now, not your skin and the very best ingredients.

    So sad.

    Advice to Management

    Get a new President

Great pay. Fun environment. Opportunity to bonus. Awesome gratis program.

    Cons

Long hours. Old school clientele methods. Hire district trainers from unrelated fields so they teach the wrong things at times.

    Pros

You get to meet new people. Bonuses if you meet the quarter. Daily sales goal which keeps you busy and makes it fun

    Cons

Coworkers are very competitive. Follow up with clients. Returns will hurt your numbers in sales. You have to fight for your sale or your coworker will snatch it from you ha

    Advice to Management

Meet your goals and keep checking your numbers daily. Keep up with your 2-2-2 binder
