I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people. Good and interesting projects. Good pay for the title.

    Cons

High expectations of working time (50-80 hours typical). You get moved around a lot. Poor communication from senior management. Poor tools to improve productivity or ease of day to day tasks.

    Advice to Management

Take more care with expectations of working time. Take more responsibility to improve technology tools for completing common activities.

I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Kiewits safety culture, along with there training programs are second to none.

    Cons

The construction industry is a hard industry for women, but many leafing companies have recognized that, as well as the advantages to promoting and supporting women. Kiewit is still locked in the early 1960. Not only are the unsupportive of their women employees, they are dismissive of the wives and families of their male employees. There are a lot of great people and procedures at Kiewit, but until they address this issue they will hampered.

    Advice to Management

Address the elephant in the room and your lack of forward thinking management style to recruit, engage and retain women.

I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some amazing people. Decent benefit package. Being loaded up with responsibilities and "opportunities". Your resume will be outstanding.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is tricky. Old managers refuse to embrace innovation. Just because something has worked for a 120 years doesn't mean it's the best way today. Pay is far below market value, but they hold out the golden carrot of becoming a stock holder.

    Advice to Management

One of the core values is "Our People". Start treating them better.

    Pros

    Cons

It is not a company for everybody. Hard to fit in if you are not the typical employee. The more unused vacation you have, the more valued you are. You should be willing to sacrifice weekends and work more than 40 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Understand the added value of a diverse workforce Evaluate company culture to eliminate its 'old-fashioned' feel Promote mentoring at all levels
