I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of work, good benefits, pays good, big company, work all over the country, international work, lots of fields to choose.

    Cons

No work life balance whatsoever, 12-14 hr days at minimum, never in the field, Everyman for himself attitude, not so friendly with relocation either.

I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time

    Pros

Multiple locations across N. A. to work
    Challenging opportunities
Some smart people (they're not all geniuses)
    Big projects that get noticed
    Brand recognition
Energy and Power division has dominated the company's backlog and profits that lest few years (Infrastructure, Building and Mining are down)

    Cons

This culture of this company is very different from what it was 20 years ago. For instance: It's no longer a blue collar company; too many fat cats with 10 corporate jets; Politics heavy, you need to know someone, be someone's drinking buddy or have played football for Nebraska to get anywhere; Laid off 2,000 people between 2015-16 (now they're building a new HQs in Omaha); core values are somewhat taken seriously, not always; Stock price is priority #1; Too many corporate kens and barbies with ambiguous purpose ; Still a white male dominated company; HR or Employee Relations ("attorneys") do not look out for the employee, they look out for the brand; Managers dangle the stock and bonus "carrot" in front of you often, only to see how much they can get out of you; Sr. leaders who live in a bubble; spend their energy shaping perception instead of dealing with reality; Pursues federal infrastructure projects that are morally questionable (Build that Wall!).

    Advice to Management

Go back to your roots, fundamentals, treat the true hard workers fairly, go back to being a meritocracy... or bring Pete back from the dead.

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It used to be a good fast paced company that allowed personal growth. That has changed.

    Cons

Learn fast how to play the political games. Everyone is about how much political capitol they have and will throw you under the bus to make themselves look better.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up!

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time

    Pros

benefits are good but that is it.

    Cons

There is not a work life balance. The management is hand picked and some don't have the skills to be in the position. If you do a bad job on one project, they will promote you and give you more responsibility.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid the current management

I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

401K, opportunity to travel, exciting projects, (usually) job security. Decent benefits, PTO, opportunity for stocks (if you kiss the right you know what)

    Cons

No life outside work in Omaha market. Saturdays/Sundays required. Only reason to work here is to have that "Kiewit" experience on your resume. If you get hired on be aggressive in your starting pay negotiations. They're banking on getting you on for the cheap. Work there a maximum of 4/5 years and get out. Go to a company that will treat you better.

    Advice to Management

Who cares, they don't give a hoot anyways. Let's just imagine the most unfavorable things you could say about a company, now go even lower...just beneath that. Scum management.

I worked at Kiewit Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

Good learning experience if your a new college graduate. Plenty of opportunity to learn the construction business.

    Cons

Management is mediocre at best. They expect you to give your soul and treat people like expendable assets. Long hours and no compensation. There is no need to stay more than two years, your a fool if you do. Once you have experience you will find work opportunities with higher pay and less hours.

    Advice to Management

Management is mediocre at best. Stop treating employees like expendable assets. Train up employees and compensate, maybe you won't loose so many.

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation as an intern

    Pros

You get paid once a week.

    Cons

No one cares about you. Management doesn't care to develop you, coworkers don't speak to you.....terrible place to work. They lied about my internship responsibilities. A truly disorganized company. Also the entire organization is made up of white males. Absolutely no females or diverse employees.

    Advice to Management

    Don't lie....

I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Plenty of room for improvement. There is a few really respectable people trying to do right for the company. Not much else to say.

    Cons

Incompetent management throughout the company, resulting in incompetent staff. That pretty much sums it all up. Nothing else to say.

    Advice to Management

Pete Kiewit would be very unsatisfied if he could see what's become of his prestigious organization. It's time to clean house and let true leaders emerge.
