I worked at Kiewit Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As an intern I was exposed to many new and great things that involved Kiewit. Their manpower, equipment, safety, benefits, pay, and relationships within the company were second to none.

    Cons

Huge company, so a lot of kissing up to try to advance. Also long hours and a lot of travel is to be expected... But it is a construction company so that's the norm.

    Advice to Management

Advance employees who are proven capable of doing the work, and who put in the hours. A culture of who can brown nose the most, and who you know compared to what you know is not appealing. Other than that keep it up!

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits from day 1, great healthcare, good dental, the retirement plan is awesome, most of the people on the business side are very nice and courteous. Managers listen, they work with you, suggestions are usually welcome. The pros are heavy and working for them is very comfortable. You can easily work here for life and be happy. There are travel opportunities and workshops. They are involved with the community and support our military! I do love working for the company!

    Cons

Behind the times in IT management. Pay advancement with job change is almost non existent. You can change jobs within the company to do a different, harder job, and they don't always compensate you appropriately. You have to leave the company to really get the jump you deserve/want in some cases.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times on IT management and pay scales. You can't be number 1 in the world with a mess of an IT department.
