    Pros

Unbelievable benefits like medical, dental, and vision all for an awesome price. I've been here for 6 months and got a midyear raise based on my performance. They value and expect training and ensure learning opportunities. They keep up with current trends and technologies. I just can't say enough good things about working here.

    Cons

I honestly haven't seen any yet. You feel like you're part of a family (at least working at corporate headquarters, not sure about field personnel).

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, keep promoting from within, and keep paying your employees what they deserve, not what you can get away with, and I will be a happy employee until I retire (27 years from now).

    Pros

Great Benefits, Great Opportunity, Good chances for advancement. It is a good place to weed out those who think they are "Entitled" for more things. If you want to be rewarded for working hard, then this would be your place. Great stock options, great 401K. Great People. There is a great system in place for advancement. Basically if the guy above you wants to move on he needs to train you to fill his position. WHen you work fo rKiewit you get the opportunity to work on some highly prestigious projects.

    Cons

Longer Hours (Typical of Industry) Hard to handle for pansies. You have to wait ot be able to be in the stock program. The other downfall would be that there is a little bit of stress, but nothing that the typical industry worker can't handle.

    Advice to Management

Keep trainign those who want to succeed. There are plenty of people who are willing to work hard. New Grads are great when they are taught properly.

    Pros

Leared so much in one year. Great senior leader ship. Quality and safety are main areas of focus. Enjoyed the internship.

    Cons

Expectation of serious work commitment so make sure you can work in this environment. 60 hour week can be expected.

    Advice to Management

    Great work.

    Pros

Huge projects, Meritocracy (so far), resources!, friendly coworkers.

    Cons

Cliques, pay lowish, 50 hours minimum, must push HARD for change

    Advice to Management

You know who your star employees are, compensate them well & make them part of the team before they gain enough experience to leave.

Don't hire just former interns, there's a pool of unemployed and underemployed construction engineers out there who can provide the experience we're lacking.

Don't allow managers to work employees more than 50 hours a week. Fix Survey!!!

    Great opportunities.
    Excellent training.
Working with a company that doesn't waver on its focus on safety.
    Recognition

    Cons

Lazy people in the field as well as offices.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the younger employees that whine because they are spoiled brats brought up to believe that the world owes them something fresh out of college.

    Pros

Outstanding opportunities based on your abilities. Hard work is expected and rewarded. Moving is required, but that it not a secret. The company builds large project and employees must go where the work is.

    Cons

The hours and moving can be viewed as a con, but the expectations are very clear when people are interviewed. This should not be a surprise to anyone, but the long term compensation more than makes up for it.

    Advice to Management

Continue to reward the high performers and remove those who don't. Compensation should be based on actual performance, not just experience.

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is financially strong. The work is intersting and exciting. You get the chance to be a part of some great projects. The people who work throughout the organization are really nice, mostly pretty cool, and all very smart high achievers. The compensation is good in general, but what really makes it great is the world class health care and 401K.

    Cons

You have to go where the work is, especially early in your career so that means having to move at the whim of management. Usually moves are a career opportunity, and the company does pay the expenses, but it makes it hard to form a life outside of work. When you are off a job and doing a home office type role you will have to do a lot of travel. The work is demanding so you work a lot of hours making it hard to find work-life ballance.

I worked at Kiewit Corporation part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Spent a summer with the company while finishing up school. Had the opportunity to spend a Summer working in Dallas. Awesome people, lots of team building, free golf, and overall great time. Many people don't recognize MEC is a subsidiary to Kiewit - but you get the same experience if not better as a specialty contractor...

    Cons

Have to be ready to hit the road. I am and I'm ready for some more.
