Pros
Continuity between staff and craft employees is top notch. Safety is ingrained into the culture with them. Completing projects and or hitting certain bench marks on time is something that is always rewarded.
Cons
Long hours for extended periods of time can be challenging at times for those with families. Working far from where you live also can be rather challenging as well.

Pros
Good Pay and Great Benefits (PTO, Health Insurance, 401K)
Cons
Long hours (but I guess it should be expected if you work in the construction industry).

Pros
The people I worked with were great. The pay was really good too.

Not Very Helpful Company
Jul 23, 2015 - Office Engineer in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Large projects and good benefits. Co-workers are really nice.
Cons
No proper training is ever given. Long hours (expected to work at least 10 hours a day) and heavy work loads. Horrible work-life balance. Management mostly cares about company not employees.

Pros
Lots of room to grown and generally good support from your peers and managers. PKS really encourage personal and professional development.
Cons
Terrible work-life balance. PKS EXPECTS the employees to work long hours (whatever to get things done). The company tradition is that you move to where the work is. They will pay for the move, but they cannot repair many broken relationships due to the move.

Pros
1) Great Medical, Vision, and Dental Benefits. 2) There are benefits that fit senior/old people. 3) Great 401K plan. One of the Best in the country. 4) GREAT field and office experience to put in your resume. 5) You will learn from the best. 6) Best Training benefits and opportunities. 7) They will pay for your PE, tuition assistantship, and others. 8) The staff and co-workers are friendly and willing to help if you need help. 9) Supervisors and higher management want you to ask questions so you can learn. 10) Kiewit has a huge connection with the majority of companies. So, it's a great way to build your industry connections.
Cons
1. Sometimes there is miscommunication between the departments because its a big company. I think this issue is common in large companies. 2. they might assign you to a new job/assignment at any moment. 3. Workload. 4. You might have to work long hours (more than 10 hours) including working from home. 5. Might have to work Saturday/Sunday/Vacation/Holiday if the work requires you that.

Pros
Big Company perks. Good Benefits
Cons
Long hours and rude old men that don't implement technology as mush as they should in this day and age. You need younger PM's

Stress and long hours far outweigh the opportunities Kiewit offers.

You will be given as much as you can handle and more, if you work hard and try your best chances are you'll get noticed. They're are numerous opportunities to move around in the company and expect to do this multiple times. The job security is top notch and the benefits are pretty decent as well. Company matches up to 6% to your 401K account. Overall if you can handle the hours and multi tasking you can make it in the long run.
Cons
To many tasks will burn you out, guidance is lacking as this is very much a sink or swim company. They place people in positions that require more experience than what they have been exposed to, therefore stressing the individual out. They will require you to work weekends so if you're married I hope your spouse is ok with not seeing you/raising the kids alone. Divorce is common and it appears as though some people are burned out/unhappy with their current role. The KBG West area has seen a lot of turnover recently as well. Work/Life balance will be hit or miss but if you have the luxury of being placed on a job with an accelerated schedule have fun working 70+ per week. Compensation is lacking in regards to the amount of hours you work. This is a spot on "good ole boys" company as well but that's nothing new in corporate America. Advice: Get a few years of experience and take that experience elsewhere. The stock program that they dangle in your face isn't worth it in the long run. Go to another company that will treat you better.

Pros
You learn a a lot about different scopes of work.
Cons
Long hours that aren’t bad if you’re younger but as you get older they get to you. Hours are typical of industry.
