    Pros

Great company culture that fosters honesty, integrity, flexibility, teamwork, autonomy, open communication, family environment, work life balance and continious improvement mentality

    Cons

The corporate headquaters is located in small town and there is not as much to do for entertainment. Accordingly, HQ lacks age diversity (average employee age is in early 40's).

    Advice to Management

Kimball needs to improve its recruiting efforts to a more age and ethnicly diverse workforce and do a little bragging as far as PR initiatives go because they are a wonderful company but not too many people know it

    Pros

Great work days, hours, benefits, and retirement. The people were great to work with.

    Cons

You would find sometimes that some employees would slack off in your department so you would have to pick up the slack.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all employees are not slacking and supervisors are keeping up with their departments.

I worked at Kimball International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

New product is constantly being released, new fresh branding, recent marketing push, great quality furniture, nice size company, great corporate culture, nice salary, very generous budget. This company is one you want to work at for life. They are kind, patient, helpful, and want you to be the best you can be. If you want to grow, there are opportunities and ways to make it happen. Once you learn how to maneuver through the corporate web (like every major manufacturer), nothing can hold you back. Naturally, it is what you make of it. Overall everything is in order and people enjoy their jobs. I left for a higher salary and have regretted it everyday since.

    Cons

They have some trouble competing with the major manufacturers, but I think that will dissipate over time. There are some headaches that one would experience at any manufacturer.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend that management communicate just a little more with the team, and maybe do more to create an atmosphere of solidarity.

For those who want structure and defined career paths, the corporate culture may be challenging.
