    Pros

    If you are chosen as a top performer, or are hired right out of college they will put you on a fast track of promotion. One year rotations in roles, with little requirement to achieve any real success, you simply have to keep your head down, throw other people under the bus, be dishonest, never ever debate, and you will be promoted every year until you are a Senior level. At which point your life will change drastically, and you will be a target of hundreds of people that want your job.

    I have worked at multiple top Fortune 500 companies and this is the absolute worst. They set up diversity groups as a cover up for how prejudice they are to anyone that isn't a white male that simply agrees with whatever leadership says blindly. The HR leadership team is similar to the mafia, they are bullies and often create false accusations against their senior employees to justify terminating them to avoid law suits for wrongful dismissal and age discrimination law suits. It used to be a very good company until the leadership all changed over and was brought in from the outside. They sit with hundreds of jobs in Neenah open that they can't fill because no one wants to move to Neenah WI and because the culture is from the 1920's, yet they continue to chase out high performers on trumped up KC One Behavior violations. No one is allowed to debate or defend themselves from whatever accusation HR makes, there is no trial or jury, and they allow anonymous complaints with no verification of the accusation. It has become a horrible culture of fear, and eat or be eaten culture. The only feedback you get is negative and constant criticism. AVOID this company at all costs, they will destroy your confidence and fire you with no cause or warning. Unless you are extremely slow, like to be a yes man, NEVER disagree or think for yourself, you will NOT be successful here. They reward puppets, they save all of their senior roles beyond Director for people from the outside, and the HR team is made up of criminals.

    Advice to Management

    Replace your HR team with people that are actually caring good people. If you say you want individual, creative thinkers that will debate and challenge the way it has always been done, than set up protection for them to thrive. Stop firing people and pushing out your highest performers on made up morality and value charges, they aren't legitimate accusations, but no one ever challenges HR's decisions. If you want diversity, people of color and more women leaders you have to set up a path for them to be promoted beyond Team leaders. Stop hiring all your Directors and VP levels and above from the outside.

    Pros

    Good pay, medical plans ok, company very involved in the community in a positive way

    Cons

    Company ego centric and tends to promote only certain types. Lots of great people are held back from jobs they are qualified for based on Team Leader opinion and recommending that they don't apply for a variety of reasons. If upper management were aware of how often this goes on I don't think they would be happy. Only 4% match on 401k. Lots of great employees but the few who are "headstrong" are not dealt with and continue to bully to get their way. Claim to have work life balance as a priority but there is no consideration of this at the tactical levels.

    Advice to Management

    Upper management and HR needs to become more involved with the processes that can be detrimental to peoples upward movement and get in tune with what is really going on. It might surprise them (upper management and HR) as to the reality of what is happening. Culture of Accountability doesn't exist and needs to be reinforced if this is truly what the company wants. It needs accountability at all levels and its not happening. The company has a track record of introducing change that it never truly embraces. Its been three years and there is little to no change for the culture, people still go straight to managers to complain while not giving people a chance to hear about it before it goes to that level. I have seen many good people leave because of situations like this, people who have been well promoted and who hold experiences that the company should value.

    Pros

    -Large company with strong history and strong brands within "necessities" categories
    -Good growth opportunities, if you fit the culture and have the right personality type
    -Good shorter run (2-3 years) company for building early resume and experience
    -Fair pay, good benefits
    -Good people

    Cons

    -Company is very process oriented and work standardization focused. Most of your tactical work will follow some kind of standard process that has checkpoint forms to complete on top of the task itself. While this benefits, for example, a new college graduate that is learning the basics, it can become time consuming, monotonous, robotic, etc. the more experience you have. Processes and work standardization prevent the company from being as agile and adaptable as it could be. Company is much more reactive culturally and it can take considerable time (years) to adapt to new ways of thinking and working. The company is also not very innovative and is more reserved/conservative in what they will invest in. Strategies are often recycled from previous years. Cyclical restructuring and cost cutting tend to be primary strategic vehicles as opposed to true innovation. If you value a certain degree of "work freedom", enjoy using experience based instincts, like the ability to work outside of processes, or don't like to feel micromanaged by processes, you will most likely be happier with another organization.

    -Company is also very meeting structured. On average, you will spend half of your work week preparing for, attending, or reacting to a meeting. Meetings can be redundant and. at times are a hindrance to your day to day tactical work. If you enjoy this type of structure, you will be fine. If you value more ad hoc problem solving, off the cuff team dynamics, less structured/white space friendly environments, you will likely be happier with another organization.

    -Company has a ton of turnover and leadership constantly pushes that "they need talent" or "are talent short". Internally, the company will move people into new roles regularly. While this is good for individual experience and exposure, employees are so time crunched from meetings and processes that training suffers. A lot of folks don't stay in a role long enough or have the white space to become a functional expert. You also do spend a bit of cyclical time bringing new team members up to speed on basics. The culture basically creates an environment where you'll learn to do quite a few basic things decently but the flip side to the coin is, you'll need to use off work time to learn and absorb how to do things great. Folks hired from outside have a hard time adapting to all the process work and lack of white space and often leave after a year or two. In fairness, there are quite a few employees that started with and stayed with the company for the long run. If it's the only culture you know or if you like a lot of structure and process, you'll enjoy the company. Lastly, if you value feeling like you're caught up on things at the end of the average day, this company is not going to be a good fit for you.

    -Upper management at times is oblivious to tactical, day to day white space needs and can't seem to connect the dots between the burying culture of meetings/process work and the continued talent gap.

    -Software systems are inefficient, inflexible, and numerous.

    -Culture of moving people around frequently has created a lot of middle management roles and specialty teams. Good for the long run career opportunities but causes simple tasks to require multiple communication channels, red tape, unneeded processes, and delays in decision making. What takes a day to get approved in most organizations can take weeks with KC

    -Again, it is a good company but it's simply not for everyone. I'd recommend knowing your work and management style(s) well (what you find motivating, demotivating, etc.) before going to work at KC.

    Advice to Management

    -You keep wondering why you have a talent gap yet you never seem to consider that certain aspects of the culture does not appeal to some personality types. Quite a few talented people perform best when given the white space to explore opportunities and dig into the details. Quite a few talented people don't like to feel buried in processes or micromanaged by processes but instead put value in finding new ways to do things, a certain degree of work freedom, and an environment where creativity, adaptability, and agility is embraced. Change the culture a bit and you'll find more talent. Keep doing things the same way and you'll likely see the talent hole get deeper.

    Nice place to work with nice machines. I have 27 years with them and cannot complain.

    Cons

    They are a little over the top with meetings. There is a dress code if that is a con.

    Advice to Management

    Tone down the safety. Way over the top. People can only be accountable for themselves.

    Pros

    Decent benefits, great learning experience, flexible work arrangements. Nice campus. Casual dress code. Excellent clubs & networking opportunities on campus & within the organization.

    Cons

    Very, very low pay for amount of work required based on financial impact to the organization.

    All management reports directly to out of touch high up leadership which leads to misalignment of goals, direction, & the worker bees being constantly told to switch direction & objectives. Mid-level managers have zero business managing people due to lack of proper training or resourcing by HR. Anyone with a leadership role is paid an enormous salary & those leaders do zero actual work but sit around & talk & make plans for what & how their measly paid team members will accomplish for them next. Career growth is non-existent unless you are a decent looking white girl willing to kiss a lot of ---- or a good old boy with family ties within the organization. Nepotism is rampant & the promotions & largest salaries are paid based on who's who instead of experience, knowledge, & skill. Constant change leaves those in the trenches doing the work miserable, underpaid, & in fear of being the next to be fired. But KC doesn't fire people, they instead force people they don't like into resignation by picking on them until they can't take it anymore. It is obvious management discriminates based on age, race, creed, & if you don't fit the Mold of a WASP or are homosexual, older, unmarried in your 30s, etc & don't hob knob with your leaders & kiss their you know what's you can bet you will be set up to fail. The level of management that oversees most of the workforce is given too much power for an organization of KCs size with too little training & that is what leads working for KC to feel more like attending high school where the pretty & popular are on top; instead of like in real life where the nerds & hard workers succeed. Having had experience with multiple large, global organizations, I would have to say my experience with KC was the absolute worst & not just limited to one department or business sector within the KC organization, while most organizations do operate somewhat on a who knows who basis, KC will absolutely run themselves into the ground in the near future if they do not become more diversified, value real talent, & stop having the "too big to fail" attitude.

    Decisions are made on a complete whim regarding software systems & IT enhancements. Motto seems to be, let's just do it now & deal with customer recourse, worker capabilities, & customer satisfaction later.

    Advice to Management

    There are too few levels of management - while upper management sets a vision & goal, only 2 rungs down the ladder are inexperienced, untrained people trying to execute said vision & goal without the knowledge, skill, management capabilities, etc to execute any course of action that is long lasting and sustainable.
