      Pros

Great company culture, benefits and compensation. Opportunities for advancement.

      Cons

At times, work/life balance; however, that's almost everywhere anymore

      Mediocre place to work

      Pros

This company is a good talent aggregator, unfortunately they don't know how to keep people.

      Cons

Having a work life balance is frowned upon. Comp time is disproportional to extra effort put forth. Diversity in management is lacking.

Used to be great. Could be great again.

      Pros

A lot of responsibility and opportunity to show what you can do. Plenty of opportunity to get different experiences to gain breadth if you want to

      Cons

Recent headcount reductions left some groups without enough people which is eroding the former benefit of work life balance at KC Engineering has been reduced so much, proper mentoring and talent development cannot occur. People are just trying to keep their heads above water. Management doesn't know how to focus with the limited resources we have and grind people down cause they don't make hard decisions.

      Pros

Good pay, medical plans ok, company very involved in the community in a positive way

      Cons

Company ego centric and tends to promote only certain types. Lots of great people are held back from jobs they are qualified for based on Team Leader opinion and recommending that they don't apply for a variety of reasons. If upper management were aware of how often this goes on I don't think they would be happy. Only 4% match on 401k. Lots of great employees but the few who are "headstrong" are not dealt with and continue to bully to get their way. Claim to have work life balance as a priority but there is no consideration of this at the tactical levels.

      Pros

Decent benefits, lower level employees are fairly nice, the pay was once great for the area but now its more mediocre.

      Cons

KC is running in 50 different directions at once and it shows, the work/life balance may be nice at other mills but here it is horrid, 12 hour rotating shifts and management hides out in the parking lot to catch anyone coming in late, the "validation" system they have setup is the dumbest thing I have ever seen as you are constantly having to re-interview for your job, very clique based i.e. if you aren't rubbing elbows with the higher ups not only do you stand no chance of promotion but it becomes very hard to get even a regular raise, do not even think of taking a break during a scheduled down you are expected to work your 12 hours with a 15 min lunch any more than that and they start breathing down your neck.

      Major outsourcing, wrong direction.

      Pros

I had some of the best coworkers of my life. It was the people who were there before the outsourcing that made this a great place to work.

      Cons

The major outsourcing was devastating to such a massive collection of employees across all departments. People spent their entire career at KC banking on their retirement plans. Heart breaking to see good people’s lives suddenly turned upside down at 20, 30, 40, 50 years old. For years (perhaps decades), KC used be rated as top places to work including reasons like great benefits, work life balance, and virtually no turnover. People learned a hard reality lesson in company loyalty.

      Doesn't walk the talk

      Pros

Good corporate values, but not embraced by some departments. Great experience working for a global company. Great interaction with people all over the globe. On-site health facility. Great resources for diverse employees, but could do more. Pay decent.

      Cons

Seemed like employees were overloaded with work. Work/life balance questionable. Heavy reliance on contractors and agencies shows lack of care for employees. Mid-management level not skilled in managing people. Often promoted because of high skill level in field, but not able to manage people well. Motivate through stick not carrot approach. Employees not given appropriate resources to do their jobs well. Environment not friendly in some departments. Sometimes an overly-corporate feel without compassion and understanding. Not innovative like they promote. Stuck in old ways of doing things. Not progressive. Feeling that employees are not valued. Consumer marketing to customers often somewhat misleading. Doesn't value employee feedback. Non-collaborative in some departments. Little to no budget for initiative that are supposed to be a priority. Support from management non-existent. Lack of opportunities for professional development. Lack of proper planning/goals in some departments. Roadblocks that make it cumbersome to do job.

      Where else would you work?

      Pros

I’ve worked here for 5 years. My first experience was in Customer Service in the Neenah Office. Customer Service is a great team to start out on as you really learn a lot about the company and you meet a lot of friendly people. There is also a great work-life balance at the Neenah location and a lot of families love the flexibility that the company offers. I now hold a role in one of the Field Sales offices. I believe that each sales office is different and the culture is dependent on the people there. This experience has been a challenge, but has taught me a lot about our customer facing teams.

      Cons

Each office location has their pros and cons. The Neenah office is in a small town so it is hard for people to adapt if they are used to a bigger city. The Field Sales offices do not have as much work-life balance flexibility.
