    Pros

Great benefits and generous paid time off

    Cons

No room for advancement, no/few minorities in management positions in New Hyde Park, opportunities are provided based on nepotism

    Advice to Management

Promote diversity among your work force and try to find why so many talented employees are leaving

    Pros

Direct managers genuinely care about the employees and are fantastic to work with. The company is very flexible with employee work schedules and offers generous PTO/sick time packages. Year-end bonuses are around 10% of annual salary plus every February employees are given a stock option payout of several thousand dollars. Kimco offers tuition reimbursement up to $6K annually and matches 401k contributions up to 5%. Insurance benefits are better than most, and they offer optional flex spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care as well.

    Cons

Most (if not all) managers above one's direct manager are very difficult to work underneath. Many tend to micromanage and want to have their hands in every minute detail, yet when something important is needed from them, they either do not respond or it takes weeks/months to get an answer that should have taken 10 minutes. Upper management makes rash decisions about employees based upon limited observations and does not listen to their management team for input.

The work currently being performed by the former Lease Administrator/Analyst position is a joke. Anyone with a brain will be bored to death.

I really want to love this company and love the job. Kimco truly is a great company with great potential. It's the current management team that has ruined the PFA team. I will say the current management team has implemented some good changes on the accounting side, but the changes made to the lease administration and collections teams have had a negative impact.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the employees who are leaving. You are losing good employees with experience and knowledge that cannot be easily replaced. These employees are being replaced with far less capable people lacking the capacity to perform anything beyond simple tasks. If Kimco ever wants to bring certain responsibilities back in-house, it will have a very difficult time with the new staff it has in place. Too many seasoned employees have left and more are on their way out.

    Pros

Dress Down & Bagel Fridays. Decent healthcare benefit package.

    Cons

Salary not competitive with other REIT companies. Outsourced to India, combined multiple departments to one. No structure. Mom & Pop tenants are being treated unfairly. More concern on anchor tenants. Lacks customer service. Driving tenants out of business due to hidden practices. Mentality is pay me or get out.

    Advice to Management

Work on improving customer service to your tenants. Open communication with internal departments. Create workshops for departments to open communication amongst each other. Stop the "boys club" mentality.

    Pros

Great place to learn real estate . Great staff. Staff is family oriented. Good benefits.

    Cons

Upper management sucks. You have to practically kiss butt and watch other lips in the meantime. They use to have a great management staff until they laid them off and replaced them. Go figure. The older management staff helped promote and gave opportunity for advancement. The current management team sucks.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your colleague's behind and notice the hardworking employees and give them a chance to promote. Roll up your sleeves and help with work over flow and stop setting deadlines and punishing employees that are OVERWORKED by your demands.

I worked at Kimco Realty full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Regional Directors and Vice Presidents are great people to work with. Company benefits are good although every year they give it a hair cut.

    Cons

Accounting software CTI is extremely old, you'll never use this version of Yardi anywhere else in your career. CFO's mantra of having his "All-Stars" and "Blockers and Tacklers" in his staff creates a horrible unprofessional environment. Regional office staff tries to avoid corporate accounting managers at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Being blinded by the focus of cutting payroll and other G&A costs has created a horrible corporate work environment. HR works against its own employees hiding behind wasted "perks" such as Dale Carnegie courses and weight loss programs that sees employees walk circles around the parking lot. They are also blind to the unprofessional managers that create bad blood among employees. There is a blaring cancer within the organization that needs to be addressed otherwise employee morale will continue to be low.

    Pros

Most people in lower management are nice.
    Convenient area.
    Good salary and benefits.
The average employee is in and out 9am-5pm.

    Cons

Senior management is hardly approachable if you're near the bottom of the totem pole.
Professionalism is in question at all levels.
While they do promote to fill vacant upper level spots, they promote largely based on seniority instead of competence.
Senior management seems to not care at all about the people who make the company tick such as the Accounts Receivable/Payable Departments.

    Advice to Management

Show that you care, at least a little.
