Unmatched Benefits and Perfect for the Driven

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Health Insurance is no cost for just yourself, and very minimal cost for adding other people. It's an excellent HMO. - With 200% matching on 4% of your income, plus profit-sharing of up to 10%, the company could put a maximum of 18% of your income into your 401(k) with you only putting in 4%, for a total 22%. - Other misc great benefits like financial advising, dental/vision plans that are great, ability to purchase additional PTO, and maternity/paternity leave. - The company will give you alot of responsibility, often quite a lot earlier than you would anticipate. It's an amazing place to stretch yourself and you can quickly grow in your career. - Ability to change direction. If you're a landscape architect and want to move to civil, the company will support it. Overall, very supportive of you pursuing your passion - Transparent leadership and employee-owned - Every office helps, rather than competes with, each other. We're a single profit center, so though each office has goals, there's not a territorial fight between offices.

      Cons

      - With alot of responsibility can come more work than you may be used to. We all work very hard, but some people, it's too intense.

Great Place to Kickstart your career

      Pros

Really ambitious seniors who are typically eager to help. The environment is really natural with coworkers. Great benefits and retirement contributions.

      Cons

You'll get thrown in the trenches and need to stay late/arrive early to meet tight deadlines. They are always watching UT, and it can be crippling.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our commitments to our clients and their projects may call for longer weeks and a focus on UT, which are both typical in the consulting world. It’s that level of shared commitment that allows us to provide exceptional clients service and offer above-and-beyond benefits.

You will be compensated for your sacrifice.

      Pros

Streamline your career. Time spent at Kimley-Horn will put you leagues ahead of others in your field. You will work harder and have more responsibility than many of your peers. Performance based bonuses. Great benefits and 401K. Base salary is comparable to other firms.

      Cons

You must be willing to sacrifice your time and health to reap the benefits. Work-life balance is not a priority. Be prepared to work 12+ hours and weekends/holidays in order to meet deadlines.

      Demanding/Rewarding

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits, lots of young professionals, room for growth

      Cons

Demanding hours and expectations. All hours of PTO must in effect be made up at another time to meet goals (UT goals do not factor in PTO)

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review; we’re happy to know that you see room for growth with us. We want to clarify that PTO is factored into UT calculations (as are admin time, training, and marketing). We appreciate your years of work with us and look forward to continued success together.

      Great Experience, VERY Long Hours

Apr 14, 2020 - Land Development Civil Analyst

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits including an insane 401K match, great medical, good overall company culture, sizable bonus at the end of the year (even though bonuses are taxed at a higher rate and they do not cover what would've been straight-pay overtime)

      Cons

Utilization rates are VERY important, and vacation time is not subtracted from the total hours you need to work to meet your UT goal. Essentially, if your UT is 96% and you take a week long vacation, you have to make up those 38.4 hours over the course of the year by working overtime without pay.
