I have been working at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * We are encouraged to ask questions and to learn, without ever feeling as though we should already have the answer. * I have been given opportunities to expand my skillset in people management. * Everyone I've worked with on a management level or higher has been very welcoming and friendly.

    Cons

    * Long hours (especially during our busiest seasons) can be the norm.

I have been working at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everything. Guests, management, team, benefits, overall happiness and respect for the hospitality industry. Promotion from within. Empowerment.

    Cons

Pay is a little low but it's worth it in the long run. I will never leave this company.

I have been working at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

No manuals, you get to be yourself. Family-like atmosphere. Empowered to take care of the guests.

    Cons

No room for growth, properties are small and locations are too few and far between to move up. One bad manager can ruin the whole experience.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants full-time for more than a year

    Pros

"Cool" company. I was able to be myself. You don't have to conform to any particular personality script. The properties are usually quite impressive. The restaurants are usually in the top tier in the area. Good benefits.

    Cons

Poor compensation. Stretched workforce. Not a lot of structure. Young, ambitious, driven leadership can be a bit merciless and duplicitous. Depending on the property, they do not mitigate your personal cost (parking is rarely provided, complimentary food is a joke etc.)
