I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Supplier Showcase, bonuses, opportunity to travel if customers were offsite. There was some opportunity in training,

    Cons

I came from legacy El Paso and it sometimes felt as though we had to work triple the amount than the Kinder folks.. Felt like the "red-headed step child" so to speak.

    Advice to Management

View everyone as workers a whole rather than former company vs. Kinder Morgan.

    Pros

Focused on safety and promoting a safety culture.

Lots of experience and keeps on employees that came on through acquisitions.

Gain lots of experience with a variety of commodities.

    Cons

Lots of micromanaging from the corporate office in Houston.

Lots of people trying to play the "gotcha" game rather than help

Old equipment and facilities with very limited capital investment to keep operations running at the right levels.

Ignores people that don't toe the party line

    Advice to Management

Be flexible and open to innovation and new ideas. Trust that terminal and operations managers can and will make the right calls. Invest in capital projects to attract new customers rather than waiting until equipment is falling apart.
