I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Go on STD. They just really don’t care.

    Cons

Favoritism is rampant at this company. If you are not on the in crowd it doesn’t matter what you do. They love to let people go right before Christmas. Horrible management with unrealistic goals. Super cheap, like they don’t even want to pay you for hours worked. Bonuses HAHAHAHAHA! What a joke. Be prepared to work all the time to cover people on STD. I mean all of the time.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better. It will make you better. When you actually get someone that doesn’t go on std KEEP THEM!!!!!

I worked at Kinder Morgan part-time

    Pros

Some nice people stuck in a dead-end job.

    Cons

Brow-beaten middle management that doesn’t support employees. KM doesn’t even come close to living up to its Mission Statement. Very old technology, some desktop computers over 7 years old. Small to insignificant raises, will use any reason to discount bonuses. If you’re an IT person or engineer, RUN!

    Advice to Management

    Read your Mission Statement!

I have been working at Kinder Morgan full-time

    Pros

    9/80 schedule
Some great people to work with-unfortunately they tend to leave or be forced out
Manager actually told me that they will force you out if they don't "like" you
Okay for just starting your career but don't plan to have a future of growth-must wait for someone to leave a position and do God knows what to be selected-seriously
Money is decent but not competitive
    Nice building
    Decent insurance
Some cool smart people with morals

    Cons

Nepotism at its finest-spouses, parents, children and siblings on the same floor
Unprofessional-many lack social skills, emotional intelligence, morals, values and education
Management does not stand for what's right and foster's an environment for insecure phonies to continue to create liabilities
Cliquish, classless, backwoods thinking, ignorant, immature employees who aren't used having to anything who will do anything to hold on to their jobs so that they can continue to be lazy and mediocre. Obviously, they KNOW no other company will tolerate the bafoonery or mediocrity
No growth unless you do unscrupulous things (pick your poison)
    Good ol boy network
    Not progressive
    Lazy liars
    Antiquated technology
If you're uneducated and brown nose you can be promoted multiple times-seriously
    Management demonstrates lack of integrity
Cursing and arguing on the floor in front of employees
Management will blatantly lie (not bright and quite pathetic when dealing with an intelligent person)
No culture appreciation, values or inclusion like other successful companies
Tries to intimidate by using fear, lies and bogus accusations. It doesn't work on grounded people who aren't dependent on the company.
    Soulless...literally worse than most corporations
    Lack of accountability

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach about integrity, company values etc. This is for HR as well. These are just a filler apparently. When you are aware of injustices being done and do nothing you are just as guilty. Karma has a weird way of coming around... Promoting incompetence and brown nosers will create more liabilities. Value great employees and stock prices will improve

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of turnover gives young professionals a chance to move around the company.
    Good medical benefits.

    Cons

Poor leadership. Core Principles sound good but are not followed.
Good old boys network and if you are different you will not progress.

    Advice to Management

You cannot pretend your company into greatness. Two years with EBIDA and growth negative and stock at $20 or below does not look great next to your peers.

I worked at Kinder Morgan (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are some good co-workers dealing with the same thing you are. You learn how to multi-task and work through challenging issues. You have a job.

    Cons

Little to no room for advancement unless you are part of the good old boy culture (heavy favoritism). The technology is very old you work with and new technology is years away from being implemented. Extreme micromanagement, no trust for employees, and opinions are not valued. Management rules with fear and intimidation. No respect for employee personal life (no work life balance). Few perks, non-competitive compensation or benefits. Very out of date corporate culture.

    Advice to Management

Please value your employees. They are what makes your company a success.

    Pros

Lots of challenges to keep you on your A game. You get to know some nice people in the company.

    Cons

Managment favors some and allows their favorites to do whatever they want. The benefits get worse every year. Managment has no care for your personal time, forcing overtime on weekends and late nights with no care of current or future plans outside of work. You will not move up unless you are in the "good ol boys" group. You work with old technology and you do not enhance your career or resume. The compamy only wants yes men who do not challange managment if you have any innovative or more efficient ideas for projects.

    Advice to Management

Create a fair playing field for all employees and not just ones who are part of your alma mater and allow fair compensation time and respect a work life balance. Provide competitive benefits.

    4. Employee has to work more to achieve simple thing.
    5. No work/life balance.
    6. Very cheap when it comes to upgrade technology or provide training to employees
    7. Very little room for advancements.
    8. Nepotism at its best.

    Pros

They have a 9/80 work schedule.

    Cons

They have a 9/80 work schedule that management doesn't enthusiastically support. Need to improve the workplace culture.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate those who work for you. Use the correct, cost effective applications and technology as opposed to taking the cheap route and fixing as you go on a daily b]occurrence.

I worked at Kinder Morgan full-time

    Pros

The pay is really good but make sure they pay you above 80k otherwise you made a big mistake they will over work you until you can't do it anymore.

    Cons

    1. Micromanagement- they watch at what time you get to your cubicle, if you are away from your cubicle they are watching and will text you or even call you at what time are you going to get to your cubicle. I am not joking 20 to 30 emails asking you the same question over and over again. one of my favorites an email saying "status". 2. Management taking advantage that no one is looking and proceeding to harass you until you're about to literally cry. 3. A manager can treat you like a dog and he will unless you go up to HR and unload and you just quit because of retaliation. 4. You will have VP, Director, manager and you have emails going left and right with the same question. 5. No standards.

    Advice to Management

This is the part where I am suppose to write to management on how they can get better but the truth is they won't change they will continue to micromanage. But if you do care about changing 1. Read articles on how not to micromanaged, allow for new ideas to make procedures better, work as a team even yourself, have fun at work, become friends with the workers not a person who the team hates. Try to listen to your team ask them what needs to change in order for them to be happy and apply the change. I know that my advice is only possible in dreamland so I guess its time for me to go. Bye
