I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff is friendly and willing to help when they can.

    Cons

Horrible Upper Management that are not true to their word. Benefits are horrible. Medical benefits are extremely high with high deductibles that you can most likely never meet. No 401k match. Constant Micromanagement. Kindred CBO office in Houston is in a very old hospital. Building is full of cochroaches and pest. Building rations the air conditioning. The elevators never seen to work. There are constant electrical issues in the building and we have had 2 gas leaks so far and expected to work through all the building issues with loss of pay. Management doesn't care about the employees are only there to get a check. Horrible place to work

    Advice to Management

Simply, treat your employees as you would like to be treated.

    Pros

I can not think of pros...beside you get paid

    Cons

Health insurance is not good. They don't promote from within. There is not a good culture. Management doesn't make you feel important or valuable to the company. Management usually hires people that they know personally

    Advice to Management

The management team needs more training to learn how culture and sensitivity. And they need flexible management styles

I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It provided me an excellent opportunity to hone my skills. I worked with a variety of patients from rehab, to Long term acute care. This was a good company and continues to grow now.

    Cons

It was a long commute for me. It was difficult to get raises or recognition. They did not foster a collaborative atmosphere between staff. I still have friends that work there and they tell me it has improved quite a bit and grown tremendously.

    Advice to Management

It appears to have made significant changes and improved the work conditions. I am glad to hear this because they were overall a good company to work for and I learned a lot about my self and improved my skills significantly.

When the census is up in all hospitals, you can bid a shift and get as many as you can work and within guidelines.

    Cons

Management micro manages and the company always takes the patient side no matter what, with no investigation.

    Advice to Management

Treat the employees better and give higher pay since more work is being added to tasks to perform.
