I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable company with broad range of services and venues.
    Decent health benefits.

    Cons

Slow accrual of PTO hours, low 401k contribution.
Though FTP work hours are not guaranteed (dependent on case load) so PTO used to make up lost hours.
Onerous focus on productivity day in/out is a moral killer.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare part-time

    Pros

Managers are accessible and understanding. Very helpful in making sure employees are comfortable. Pay is competitive for where I live

    Cons

The workload is at times absurd. We are expected to sanitize up to 30 patient rooms when the census is high plus ALL common areas on our floor. In addition to that we must clean any discharges that occur on the floor, answer pages, transfer beds all over the hospital, take all trash on our floor to the compactor, unhang and hang up curtains using a ladder, lift obscenely heavy linen and trash bags many times a day and "if we have time" extra work cleaning the administration offices. This is an extraordinary amount of work for each housekeeper

    Advice to Management

Please do not forget that housekeepers are people not robots. Perhaps expand the housekeeping team so we can provide quality not quantity. Very frustrating that I cant always give the service I would like to
