I worked at King Soopers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

most cases close to home, good co workers in the majority, hours are flexible on a case by case bases. more hours you work the more you get a raises.

    Cons

You will be expected to do more and more with less incentive to do so. it can depend on the store manager and department you work in or if you are union or non union. the "more" will come from HIGH turnover at almost all stores, so in most experiances you will be doing 2 or 3 peoples job and expected to complete all tasks at or above normal standards while OVERTIME IN ALMOST ALL CASES WILL RESULT IN A NEGATIVE RESPONSE FROM MANAGERS AND IN MANY CASES WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINE OR HOURS BEING CUT .

the job will grind you down unless you find a good position that suites you, and even then managers move often, meaning one month you are a stellar employee and love your job and the next you are under performing and looking for any excuse to miss work

    Advice to Management

Nothing, this is retail in the grocer business where MORE FOR LESS is what the customer wants and the employee gets LESS FOR MORE

I worked at King Soopers part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of my coworkers were nice and fun to be around.
Some of the managers were great also.
Gave me days off when I requested them.

    Cons

Scheduling. You're pretty much at the bottom of the food chain when you first start working here, so they will schedule you for all the worst hours and you don't really get a choice in the matter.
Days off are always random, and never the weekend it seems.
Some managers talked about me and other employees behind our backs, saying negative things about us.
Didn't discipline any of the people who were being lazy with their job, instead forced the hard workers to make up for what the lazy people failed to do.

    Advice to Management

Stop saying negative things about your coworkers, especially negative things about peoples personalities, and how you dislike them as people.

Show more discipline to the people who don't do their job, it makes it so us hard workers just want to quit because you do nothing about it and let it continue.

I have been working at King Soopers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work at King Soopers click list, and I've been there for over a year. It is an okay place to work not the best, and not the worst by any stretch of the imagination it's just okay the first pro I have about King Soopers the coworkers are great for the most part. Working with customers and communicating with other people and listening to other people's stories is fulfilling.

    Cons

But the cons to the company is poor management from the supervisors from many departments. You you're giving a very bad pay scale you get a raise based off the hours you work in total after a year you get a $0.30 pay raise that is not a lot. Second you get overworked very often you'll be given several 40 hour weeks or more but, you're given no opportunity for full-time and the clicklist department. The company also hires any random person off the streets Without Really interviewing them at all they really have to do is pass a drug test and not lie on their application.

    Advice to Management

Actually interview the people you hire.

I have been working at King Soopers part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Moving up and around departments is attainable. Vacation time and raises are available after a certain period of time. The union is there when you need them.

    Cons

Little training. At time I wasn't sure what was expected of me. Team work is lacking. It's pretty much "every man for himself." Hours and shift requests are based on seniority, so if you need a day off for personal time, it can be hard to get when just starting out.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more team work between associates. There is a lot of gossip behind people's backs.

None everyone was nice and pleasant.

    Advice to Management

Don't move managers around because it's difficult to know the expectations.

I worked at King Soopers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almost $20 an hour; union; very hard to get fired

    Cons

Work anywhere from 8am to 12am multiple times a week; store managers can be cool or they can be terrible; schedule comes out 2 days before the next work week so planning things outside of work is hard.

I worked at King Soopers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved working with flowers, and the customers.

    Cons

Pay is too low for floral clerk. Dept. Manager passes her mistakes off onto the floral clerks as if they were the ones not cleaning or organizing.

    Advice to Management

Take notice as to what is really going on, and investigate the situation

I worked at King Soopers part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Staff is friendly and works together well, Hours can nice and flexible

    Cons

My store was typically unequipped when clerks would call out, quit or we would be understaffed. This would lead to pulling people from other departments, which caused tension in their departments. Managment is a tough job, but I feel like that was the key to solving these problems preventively rather than reactively.

    Advice to Management

Success means seeing problems before they come up and having a solution.
