I have been working at Kirkland & Ellis full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Kirkland is fast paced, quickly growing and intellectually demanding. If you work hard and are able to learn quickly on the fly, you will be rewarded for what you put in. Work culture is positive despite the workload.

    Cons

The volume of work can be challenging, requiring you to work long hours consistently. However the firm's overtime policy at least allows you to be compensated for this work.

I worked at Kirkland & Ellis full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've worked for 5 of the biggest and most profitable law firms over the last 18 years and by far, Kirkland was the most elite out of all of them in every aspect. If you get offered employment, consider yourself the best of the best. This firm only hires the type of person who strives for excellence. This includes every position from Attorney to staff members.

    Cons

Long hours, and no room for failure, but that is what makes a person be the best they can be. No room for mediocrity at this firm.

I have been working at Kirkland & Ellis for more than 10 years

    Pros

I work in the private equity capital group which offers challenging, high level work with a great amount of responsibilty. Ability to work independently.

    Cons

Long hours are the norm, depending on what deals you are staffed on at a given time. Paralegals are expected to bill a minimum of 1750 hours per year. If you do the math, this amounts to billing 7 hours a day every weekday of the year, including your vacation time, personal time and all firm holidays. That is hard to achieve unless you have worked a fair amount of overtime.
