    Pros

Fun environment, employee discount, different things to do in-store

    Cons

Very sales focused, no time off during holidays

    Advice to Management

Remember that for people who are part time, the company doesn't "come first" over families or personal events

    Pros

    Not much only great discounts.

    Cons

    Manager was rude and bipolar

    Advice to Management

If there's a large turnover in your store there should be a reason to look at it considering your manager is part of the problem. She doesn't know how to talk to people or train even though she was a training manager. Maybe upper management needs to see if there training managers really know how the train.

    I worked at Kirkland's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Helping customers decorate there homes and pay

    Cons

This company never kept a district Manager in the area that I was in. The Last dm and Market Manager that I had was pretty much like a micro Manager in my store and nothing was ever right, unless she did it. It was also hard to get rid of someone under you, even if your Supervisors knew of there situation, but this company is very QUICK TO FIRE THERE STORE MANAGERS !... basically they have a high turnover rate in Store Managers and District Managers. This company wants you to treat this job as nothing else matters outside kirklands doors

    Advice to Management

Do the job that you are hired to do. Communication with anyone outside your store as far as your Disrict Manager and Market Manager should be done through an email, because the story will get changed if not

    I worked at Kirkland's full-time

    Pros

    I enjoyed the employee discount.

    Cons

There was NO training and i was expected to keep up with a Manager who had NO clue how to train. We had to unload trucks of heavy merchandise without proper equipment. They did not follow company rules. The pay was awful for the work that was required. The expectations from the DM were unreachable and she was a tyrant. There was NO help from r Management when problems were reported.

    Advice to Management

Watch your backs. Make sure you have a detailed paper trail. Document each and everything you are ever told. Try your best to properly communicate the expectations of your crew.

    Pros

They offer good benefits to full time employees. With the company expanding as quickly as they are, there is room for advancement.

    Cons

Access to training and mentorship is not readily available. Typical retail store scheduling, finding a work life balance will be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Surround yourself with a strong team. This way your store can run smoothly when your not in the building. Prepare yourself to do a lot of learning on your own, if not in a SM position.
