    I have been working at Kirkwood Community College part-time

    Pros

    Develop students’ passion to learn how ever-changing technology will benefit them and to be prepared for their careers. Course expertise - computer hardware, Microsoft Office Suite (all versions), HTML5/CSS3 web page/site design & development, A+ Certification. Prepare course content, lecture & lab presentations, and online.

    Cons

    I'm looking for a full time position.

    I have been working at Kirkwood Community College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Helping people in the community is why I applied for this position and it is what I do today.

    Cons

    Transitioning to another president, we have yet to see what this will bring. Current environment is multiple silos with front end staff having little to no input.

    Advice to Management

    Take the advice of those working the front line. Ask for their opinions more often.

    I know this is a community college, but student morale and sense of school spirit is low unless you happen to like men's basketball and women's volleyball.

    Great working environment. Collegial atmosphere . Lots of collaboration between departments and new ideas are encouraged. Apply for a position here.

    Cons

    This is a great place to work. The only minor con may be that there are sometimes issues with communication because it is so big.

    Friendly staff, solid leadership, good planning for the future.

    Some financial conditions have prompted them to outsource some administrative functions like IT to outside vendors.

    Advice to Management

    Don't forget about your people at all levels, especially sub-60K, they are the ones who got you here, not just the high rollers.

    Great benefits. Employees genuinely care about students. Cutting edge community college under outstanding leadership (President Starcevich). School very involved in community.

    Cons

    Because Kirkwood is such a great place to work, it can be tough to be promoted in the area you begin working.
