    Pros

Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straight-forward. Being in Florida, the customers are usually tourists, women who like to shop, and peole usually in a good mood. Thus, I usually never have a problem with rude/annoying customers. Customer service is really important here and the co-workers are usually friendly and pleasent to work with which also pleases the customers and lends to a pretty positive environment.

    Cons

The usual of retail- sometimes you have to do the work of more than one person when working alone such as unpack boxes to check with inventory to then put on shelf while greeting customers and doing register. Usually it's managable, but I may not be the best man for the job sometimes as sometimes I get a bit spacy and need a break- but working alone for 4 hours I cannot always work as fast as I should.

    Advice to Management

Actually, they run the place pretty well as far as I know. I am not a asst. man or GM so I don't know everything.

I have been working at Kitchen Collection (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are tons of kitchen gadgets and small appliances in the store. You get an employee discount of 20%, twice a year the discount is 30%. The customers are pretty decent, fun to interact with. If you are the least bit curious, you can research some of the items and impress your customers with the product knowledge. We dress up for the Halloween and Christmas season.

    Cons

The pay sucks. I ran the store as the assistant manager for 5 months when my boss had to have emergency surgery. I made schedules, did paperwork, budgets, everything. My reward when it was time for my review, 20 cents an hour! The next year, when I did no Store Manager duties the raise I received on my review.......20 cents. My regional manager listens to my concerns about situations going on within my store (employee theft) but never follows through with a resolution. When finished with college, I am out of here. That is a shame, because I am a strong, dependable employee.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees more. In our Mall, we are the lowest paid. Even the food court employees start out at almost 2 dollars more an hour.
Give up the email address collection goals. After you mention all the add ons and "Gadget of the Month" you still are asking them for email addresses. It's too much! Especially since you send out 3-4 emails a week. No one wants that crap clogging up their email accounts!

I worked at Kitchen Collection part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, pay was alright for a part time position, loved our products

    Cons

hours were being cut more and more each month, upper level management was disrespectful and out of touch,

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and respect them, don't try to control them or act petty, you're not in the store everyday so you don't really know whats going on with day to day needs or operations. With the hour cuts I couldn't hold on to the job anymore and had to let go, it was hard to do because I loved the store I worked in. I worked very hard and was never thanked or offered any open store management positions at stores opening elsewhere. I worked as the store's assistant manager for two years without missing a day and only was offered a total of 50 cents for a raise during those two years.
