Pros
The training program at the call center is really great. They do what they can for what staffing they have but it prepares you very well for taking calls and working the system. Great pay to sit and solve minor problems. Many customers were sweet and understanding.
Cons
Anxiety-inducing, rude customers of course, lack of people to help out when you have questions but that's just due to staffing.

The People Make All the Difference
Jun 3, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
My experience at KCU has been full of great people. My team is very helpful and willing to jump to support me at any moment. The different teams at KCU that I work with are all collaborative and it is clear that we are all working towards one common goal of serving our members and one another well. My manager is amazing. They are committed to removing obstacles from my path and continue to find projects and opportunities for me to continue to develop my skillset. The company is continually looking for ways to improve and finding ways to gather and implement employee input. Diversity, equity and inclusion is a huge organization for leadership and the HR team. I'm proud to be a part of a company that values belonging and inclusion. The organization is growing which makes me excited for my career growth and for the opportunity to continue to be challenged.
Cons
There are so many great ideas, but it takes time to get them all completed. We are growing so that's a growing pain that's to be expected. The teams are passionate and driven to continue to grow and improve.

Just like the phone company
Jan 5, 2022 - Employee in Bremerton, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Offers fairly competitive pay for outside new hires.
Cons
Offers little to no advancement for internal employees and offers base pay only to internal promotions when they happen. No negotiations, while someone from the outside will get paid 10-20k more with the same education and skills. HR Department staff has been a revolving door for the past 5 years and new rules come with each new group that hardly fill a need. Just a new person wanting to do things the way it was done at their last job and then leaves, so that another new person can be hired for the position and change everything all over again. No faith in being able to talk to anyone in HR as there is no feeling of confidentiality or anything close to the safe feeling an employee should have when talking to someone in an HR department.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We work hard to invest in our people and compensate our team members for their hard work and accomplishments. We conduct periodic wage benchmarking to evaluate industry standards to stay as competitive as possible. We take a wholistic approach to total compensation, understanding that it includes salary, benefits, potential incentives, and more. We understand that change in critical departments such as Human Resources can be frustrating and take time to build trust. We strive to provide an environment where employees feel valued, challenged, and confident, which includes supporting and coaching both employees and managers to communicate effectively and solve problems directly and respectfully. KCU recognizes and respects all employee’s privacy and maintains confidentiality, limiting information to those who have a business need to know. Please know that we are listening and care about your feedback. We would like to know more about your concerns. Please reach out to your Manager, Human Resources, or any member of the Senior Leadership Team so that we can learn more about your concerns and address them effectively.

Consider these items before you even apply at Kitsap Credit Union
Mar 14, 2022 - Chief of Staff in Bremerton, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you don't know what a "beat down" Leadership team looks like - then joining KCU would be a great place to witness this concept first hand.
Cons
1. The CEO loves to hear himself talk ... so don't speak while he is talking or he will get upset, tell you "This conversation this obviously over", and will leave your office pissed. 2. No room for error.... if you make a mistake, just resign that day. Don't think the CEO will even entertain an improvement roadmap. 3. The CEO is very reactionary so if you are applying for a leadership position, please don't. 4. It could be argued that the CEO's Assistant makes the decisions not him.

Could be great but they’re getting in their own way.
Mar 22, 2022 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Peers, hard working employees, a desire to help one another. Hybrid/remote work option.
Cons
Trying to do too much way too fast without the proper resources or support. Top down decision making with no consideration for operational impact. Being micromanaged. Unreasonable goals. Long hours.

- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
I enjoy change and challenge, both are constant. The people I work with directly are wonderful.
Cons
Poor communication between department managers and lack of accountability which makes it hard to stay motivated even when I want to do my best. I feel grossly underpaid and even though HR says they review wages regularly, I don’t believe there is integrity in that department. There is no transparency in how pay is determined, or what our pay scales even are, to keep them honest, fair, and accountable either.

Pros
Generally the people that work there are nice and KCU is highly respected in the community.
Cons
Leadership has a lot of challenges and changes frequently. There isn't transparency and they really don't care about employees the way they say they do. There are employees who have been there for 15+ years and they bring on new people making more than the long standing employees. The Technology and websites are antiquated and they don't do a lot to show employee appreciation. Benefits are ok, but not compared to other credit unions that pay employee premiums. They say they are diverse, but look at leadership, they all look the same.
