Pros
Strong school district with success in academics, athletics, fine arts and career tech
Cons
Heavy on top leadership when the need is on stronger support positions

Pros
Loved my colleagues and students were good for the most part. Worked in Klein ISD for eight years and I liked it for the first 5-6 years.
Cons
District started to decline when Dr. Cain left. Classes packed with at least 30 plus kids. Had 17 SPED, 504 kids in one class. They mainstream kids that have severe behavioral issues in the classroom that puts other students in danger and disrupts the learning environment. Not to mention students with Autism that can't function in a regular classroom and they often disrupt the learning of others students as well. Admin favors certain teachers. No discipline. Turning into a private school environment. Parents run the schools and admin lets them and caters to parents. Students are tested way too much, benchmarks, district lbased assessments, STAAR etc. All about money and funding in the district. Any student can be in Pre-AP classes. A joke. Most of them don't belong in Pre-AP. Just another tactic to please the parents.

Surviving a Hysterical Boss: A Toxic Workplace Experience
May 9, 2023 - Educator in Klein, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I had some disagreements with my boss during my time at the company, but my co-workers were simply amazing. They were always there to lend a hand and go above and beyond to help each other out.
Cons
Recollecting my time working at this company still fills me with a sense of dread. The source of my unease was undoubtedly the hysterical boss, who made the workplace environment toxic with their behavior. They tended to belittle and undermine employees, creating an atmosphere of fear and anxiety. It was not uncommon for the boss to pick apart the work of their subordinates, finding fault in even the smallest details. They would openly criticize and mock employees in front of their peers, leaving them feeling humiliated and defeated.

Run…or stay…it depends…
May 20, 2023 - Education Specialist in Klein, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Praise the lord. I love how (insert pronoun) are dedicated to “keeping property “values” high! God forbid we start suffering from “white flight”!
Cons
I have genuine pity for the single minded mentality. They know not what they do. Religious ignorance and brainwashing continues to be the downfall of society IMHO. What does that school Baylor do to its graduates? School board member Arellano had an older white woman in the parking lot of a polling station at French Elementary during election day trying to “save us” by telling voters as they walk in to vote for Arellano. I saw a video somewhere of it. “We must keep our property value high” or else people from poverty and their behaviors will permeate our property bubble of protectiveness? You should hear administration joke about all of the new apartments and the fear of the “uncivilized” behaviors of associated with southern poverty. Research proves how difficult it is to teach in rural areas. Klein is a prime example why. It is so hard to see such complicity in blind faith in 2023. The Next Door App of Klein is a great resource for teachers considering Klein. See it for yourself.

Hope you don’t like raises! Or respect!
May 3, 2023 - IT Technician in Klein, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It was a paycheck. Teachers were pleasant. I was promoted fairly consistently.
Cons
The way the IT department runs will drive you insane. If the playing favorites/nepotism doesn’t get to you. The waste of money you see everyday whilst you haven’t gotten a raise in 2 years will. Also don’t expect anyone in the IT management to defend you. We went through 3 different super attendants and 3 different IT managers as well. So don’t expect consistency. Didn’t get a formal performance review for 5 years a in a row. I could go on

Substitute Teacher at Klein ISD
May 15, 2023 - Substitute Teacher in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Teachers are welcoming and usually provide a detailed substitute lesson plan in advance. The pay is good.
Cons
It is a crazy time for substitute teachers- and in some Klein schools it shows. Depending on the school- management can be a bit disorderly and the students disrespectful. It honestly depends on the campus you are at.

Overworked and Underpaid
May 10, 2023 - Assistant Principal in Klein, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
District is organized when pushing out initiatives, excellent training/professional development department
Cons
opportunities for a raise are non-existent. pay is based on years or service, not level of experience/impact. Insurance Benefits are horrible and WAY too expensive for people on such disproportionate salaries

Low pay for the work and responsibility required
May 3, 2023 - Special Education Paraprofessional in Klein, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working with kids who have special needs can be rewarding but also challenging.
Cons
Pay is low and due to having partial payments pulled to supplement summer hours with no work, overall salary is lower than other jobs that pay the same hourly rate. It would honestly pay more to work retail.
