"Has it’s perks. Would be the ideal place to work if it isn’t for the current status of upper management."

I have been working at Knife River full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great benefits. Good pay.

    Cons

In my opinion...there is a high turn around rate for hourly employees. HR management will play favorites and politics over seeking impartiality. As long as your part of the “circle”, you can get away with; yelling at employees, using subordinates to do “government work”, inappropriate jokes and harassment, etc. If lower management, supervision and hourly employees do a fraction of this, HR will tend to recommend termination.

    Pros

Great people, good pay, excellent benefits including 3% 401K match, and annual profit sharing.

    Cons

You have to be proactive in finding work at the start of construction season. Don't be afraid to contact project managers, to let them know you are available, and your skill set.

    I worked at Knife River

    Pros

Fun place to work with pretty good pay especially if able to work on overtime. Good benefits and a big company to work for.

    Cons

Work is dependent upon the construction economy and therefore unstable and job security can be at risk when business is slow.
