I have been working at Knights of Columbus full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The agency is only as good as the General Agent and South TX has been blessed with one who truly cares about serving his members! I am happy working for a company which supports the mission and values of the Catholic Church and I look forward to seeing the growth we continue to have. The agency always makes an effort to motivate Field Agents and even us Administrative Assistants to reach their goals!

    Cons

There are some days when the work can be dull but the agency does their best to prevent this!

I have been working at Knights of Columbus full-time

    Pros

Work on your own. Set your own schedule and goals.

    Cons

They do not have any value for their employees. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk. Christian in NAME ONLY.

    Advice to Management

Move into the 21st century. It about retention not intimidation

    Pros

Ethical practices are lived by the leadership not just on paper. Agents can sleep well at night.
Agents do not have to worry about violating their moral values.
Good pay commensurate with effort put forth.
Flexibility of schedule (depending on clients) allows for work-life balance.
Excellent award trips (without leaving faith back home) with many amenities.

    Cons

    Somewhat limited client-pool
Quality of training depends on local general agent

    Advice to Management

Allow former agents to return if they were successful
Ensure GAs can lead. A great salesman does not necessarily translate into a great manager.

I worked at Knights of Columbus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You set what you make. It really is a job that you will get out what you put into it. Some people may say you will make 100k a year doing this. That very well could be true but it won't come easy. Don't let anyone tell you the insurance business is easy. It's hard work but worth it in the end.

    Cons

You need to be self motivated to do this business. If not then it will be very hard to make a living.

I have been working at Knights of Columbus full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity to make unlimited income, while also sharing your Catholic faith with other brother knights and their families. Great sharing of ideas of what works with other Field Agents from around the country. All the guys are good people, willing to help out.

    Cons

If your General Agent is a dufus, it makes it that much more difficult to succeed. The training is poor too. Not everyone personality to can do this job. You have to be very entreprenurial minded and self motiviated.

    Advice to Management

Get better training for the new guys.

I worked at Knights of Columbus full-time

    Pros

Ability to set your own hours if the GA doesn't override you.
Draw available to get your started with basic pay.

    Cons

No training or service work guides until month 3 when you have learned the hard way.
You have to pay 100% of the draw back.

    Advice to Management

Limit Agency Meetings and teach group sales leadership classes to General Agents. GA's need to know how to address those requiring help and appropriately move without destroying Field Agents reputation with their clients.
Commission should go away and make it flat salary to bring ethical actions back instead of a fight to sell to make money.
