Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

They deal with all new technologies and help us to explore and respects our ideas and even suggest to use the same. Great place to work!

    Cons

Thank you for reviewing us after your internship. We work very hard on our year round internship program and it is nice when our efforts are noticed. One goal of our internship program is to find talented college students that we can hire when a position becomes available. Don't give up on Dallas, this year we have opened office locations in Boston and San Francisco. - Lisa Days, Talent Acquisition Manger

    Pros

Great coworkers. Had the opportunity to decide what I wanted to work on. People enjoy teaching you about the things they do. Can work remotely.

    Cons

Very few young people work there. Management is working on this with their young professionals group, but all of my coworkers were at least 15 years older than me. Also the building is terrible, though a move is on the horizon.

Thank you for your review. I am guessing that you were not here during a summer intern block because we do have formal intern events during the summer. We held many job specific and social events for our interns to learn about the company, our products, and each other. It sounds like you learned a lot from your colleagues as part of this experience which is an important part of the intern experience. One key goal of our internship program is to build a pipeline of early career talent for the future of our company.

    - Management. People on director and other management levels have been there for many years and the management style is sometimes obsolete. Young people gets frustrated at times due old styles and bureaucracy.

Headed in the Right Direction and Exciting for Young Professionals

    Pros

The company will soon be breaking off from many of its Eastman Kodak dependencies, and it will start to build a culture of its own. It's a great time to get in, especially if you are a young professional, because soon many people will be retiring and the potential for advancement and growth will be available should you choose to take the steps to get there. The company is supportive of development and young professionals. There is a young professionals group that meets for drinks, and there have been meetings to get feedback from young professionals on where the company should be headed. It's a global company so the opportunities to work with a diverse force are available, and the possibility of international travel is available for some people. The company is doing innovative and exciting things and is poised for growth. I look forward to growing with the company and hopefully becoming a leader here one day. The company even has started a mentoring program for development purposes that I hope to take advantage of. Everyone I met here has been extremely helpful and kind. The company does a great job of communicating and has regular town halls and emails about policies and strategies. I can assure you that every con I list is something that management is reviewing, and that they truly value feedback. My compensation is very competitive and the company's education reimbursement is competitive with what's on the market.

    Cons

Every company or job has some downsides. Here a few minor ones in my opinion: 1. Parking -- there is a bit of a walk from the parking lot. I enjoy it for some fresh air before and after work, and you quickly get used to it. It can be a bit of a shocker at first. 2. Building -- The building is huge. It's difficult to navigate and it is very outdated. It does have a cafe, however, and it is secure. I know they are looking at alternative choices in the future, so this may turn into a positive. 3. IT Equipment -- This is somewhat minor, but the computers can be outdated and not powerful enough for your job; however, if you ask your manager, it is likely that you'll be able to upgrade your equipment. Management is tuned in to providing the tools for the job. 4. Meetings -- The company has a lot of meetings so it can be difficult to get face time with some people.

Thank you for your 5-star positive feedback. It is great to hear from our new employees who see a bright future with potential for personal growth, development, and advancement. It is also refreshing to get the perspective of someone who is seeing the company for the first time and whose vision is not clouded with the baggage of comparing everything to the past. Yes, we are working to address our challenges. Constructive and collaborative employees like you will help drive our success. - Paul (Human Resources)
