I have been working at Kohl's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoy who I work with, especially the management, good team members and the management actually listens to what you say and seems genuinely interested in your concerns. Year round associate discount and several seasonal increases in discount amount.

    Cons

The pay isn't cutting it for me. I could get a far less physically demanding job at a fast food place and make a couple more dollars an hour.

    Advice to Management

Once someone proves themselves and makes it out of seasonal work into regular part-time offer some sort of pay increase on incentive program.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interview process was easy and friendly, everyone is nice and there is open communication with staff.

    Cons

Not much training on how to handle the phone and registers. Little supervision with no help when things get rocky.

    Advice to Management

Train a little more in depth, hands on training would help.

    Pros

The shoe department is relatively easy to learn how to manage, and I also really disliked folding clothes. All of the managers and co workers were very nice!

    Cons

It got to be very hectic at times, having only ONE person in the department at a time, AND helping the cashiers with a long line.

    Advice to Management

they only had one person running the shoe department at all times

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great first job. Fun working as a team. Opportunities to advance and try new things. Discounts are great. As a company, definitely seems to make strides and improvements.

    Cons

Fast paced, not for everyone. POS has way to much to push onto Customers. Holiday shopping is insane. Hours can be unreliable. Quality of a store can vary widely based on who's running it.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great employee training program, good teamwork atmosphere. Keeping customers happy was easy because they put a lot of power in the hands of employees.

    Cons

It's retail, so the hours are lousy. That's why I left. It also gets really busy during Christmas, back to school, etc.
Also, if you're not comfortable soliciting credit applications, don't take this job. Your managers will be pushing you to do it every day.

    Advice to Management

Your employee base would be unprecedented if you upgraded their pay and hours.
