    Pros

Discount on clothes and such. Pretty chill place.

    Cons

I was there for three years and got paid the same as someone who walked in and had no experience.

    Advice to Management

    Raises should be more frequent.

I have been working at Kohl's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Managers are nice and they try to help out. You can get days off if you request 2-3 weeks in advance. A couple times out of the year you do get a decent discount on some brands and can add other coupons on top of your employee discount. You are paid weekly. The dress code is decent for retail and you have more freedom to wear comfortable clothes than Sears or JcP. They use online schedules/time cards so you can check your hours from home. I do feel they are welcoming to employees of all races/religions/sexuality. Pay is fair for retail in a store like this.

    Cons

Almost every problem comes from them scheduling as few people as possible. I feel like upper management is playing a game to see how few employees can be scheduled before sales drop. Enough people are NEVER scheduled to actually help customers or fold/hang/clean up. After closing plan on staying 2-3 hours after the doors are locked -- this means 2AM. If you work in the morning, plan to stay late to try and clean because even if you aren't scheduled to do it they will have you stay to clean. So don't make plans for after work -- you never know when you will leave no matter what shift you have. They used to have more employees during the day so the store wasn't so trashed and people being late wasn't a crisis. Customers are mad because of no employees being around to help and long lines. Since they are mad, they take it out by yelling at the staff.

    Advice to Management

Staff your stores. Its really that simple. 1-2 more people for just 4-5 hours a day would change things and cut the hours needed after closing. Match your management to your published values.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time

    Pros

I enjoyed working for them. They are hard working and have a cohesive team.

    Cons

Pay is a bit low for the amount of time you spend on your feet and the diverse positions you hold. It's more of a $13-15 an hour position.

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening to your employees.

I have been working at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employer discount is the best thing about working here. It is only 15% but about three times s years it goes up to 35%.

    Cons

For part time they tell you your guaranteed no less than about 15 hours......that's a lie. They base your hours on how many credits you get, so if you don't get credits you get a good 5 hours a week and you don't get hours until basically the next holiday.

    Advice to Management

Don't put the POS associates to get credits so much, it seriously gets very annoying.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At the rate that the company is moving the pros that once existed have been eroded. Do not come onboard and expect the promises in the interview process to be kept.

    Cons

The company fails to support management in key decisions that are necessary to deliver the results expected. When at all levels of the organization you fail those entrusted to run your business it is inevitable that you will fail as an organization.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great discount specials for associate only. Vacation for years of service. Competive pay.

    Cons

Managers on all levels are inconsistent. No payroll to support expectations. Too much work load. Terrible recognition. Work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to your teams and truly support them.

    I worked at Kohl's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Once you get the hang of it, it becomes pretty easy to figure out what you need to do to get through the day without as much effort as when you first started.

    Cons

It is very difficult to get everyone on the same page. The district managers expect things that are literally impossible. There isn't enough communication between district managers and assistant managers

    Advice to Management

If the corporate level could research how much they're losing with poor ASM's, I'm sure they'll see where they can improve.

    Pros

The environment is very chill and family oriented/ team oriented. It's kind of fun at times to interact with customers and other employees as well as supervisors.

    Cons

There is no training, they just throw you out and expect you to not mess up. I feel physically overworked at times. I applied for a certain position but it's like that doesn't apply you just do what they tell you to for that day.

    Advice to Management

Implementing training would be nice and there were and are still so many unanswered questions about how things go and other employees act as though it pains them to help me out so a more detailed handbook would be nice.

    Pros

If you are looking for a fun energetic place to work Kohls is it. Although you only get 15% off employee discount they always have some kind of sale going on which you can combine. I loved working here the energy was great ! Felt the love from the managers they were always willing to help!

    Cons

    Rude customers !
Oh and yes you will be on you feet for a long time.

    Advice to Management

    Notice the little people

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience for getting into retail. You can learn so much and get some great hands on experience working in this company.
Amazing discounts on merchandise too, so if you normally shop there it is a great way to get even better deals.

    Cons

You can't make every customer or employee happy.. but Kohl's really does tries to take care of both.
Hours can be kind of hectic, especially when short staffed..

    Advice to Management

I know credit is great for market share, but the pressure attached to it is not fun.
