I worked at Kohl's as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy holiday employment, friendly staff.

    Cons

When I interviewed Discussed that I was looking for a part time holiday job for extra money. They knew I wanted 2-3 days maybe 12 hours a week. They continually scheduled me for full time as late as midnight (knowing I was only available until 10 due to working full time job at 6am) I had to call into some shifts when I had stated I could not work sundays and could not find replacements.

    Advice to Management

adhere to availability when hiring holiday help.

    I worked at Kohl's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They let you pick your own hours, weekends optional, community involvement and ten percent discount. Good medical benefits including dental

    Cons

Pressure to meet "challenges." Challenges are really quotas. Supervisor not available often enough and not enough team meetings or support

    Advice to Management

Reduce the pressure to catch shoplifters

    Pros

    - Great discount that works on every product in the store: 15%.
    - Lots of coupons that add to that discount.

    Cons

    - Minimal Training
    - Customers always try to cheat the cashiers with expired coupons or merchandise.
    - Never had a clear understanding of what task I was performing.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good friends, great discounts, fast paced.

    Cons

Lots of drama, inconsistency in management, corporate is extremely out of touch with the stores. Minimum involvement with employees. No room to grow.

    Advice to Management

Adapt your business model to fit the stores in their locations. Don't expect the same results from a store in Richmond ky as one in time square. Each area and store have their own unique needs. Store level management, stop being inconsistent and stop playing favorites. Everyone should be held to the same standards.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time

    Pros

    Good discount, easy hiring process

    Cons

little to no training, lack of organization, impossible to get hours

    Advice to Management

When you hire seasonal employees make sure you know who these employees are and that you don't "over hire". I wasn't getting any hours and come to find out your office staff accidentally took a bunch of seasonal employees off the payroll with out informing any of them.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discounts when you can stack coupons

    Cons

You will never make a living wage. I'm full time for 5 years and a single mom and I barely make enough for rent and food. Also corporate constantly changes there minds on what's better for customers which they don't ask or care about our feedback since we are the ones on the floor while they sit in a chair all day. You will do the work of 3-5 people and you will not get paid what your worth no matter how faithful you are to the kohls brand. New people that are hired and kept eventually make more money than you because of the minimum wage increase. Corporate has cut many benefits including removing sick pay and now you have to use your vacation days if your sick. Again you will not ever make a living wage here and corporate doesn't care about their employees or their health including if they are able to put food on the table!!

    Advice to Management

Listen to feedback from your associates and report as well as defend the feedback with corporate. We are not machines so stop putting so much on us and not pay us what we are worth! The good associates have been there for many years and everyone is quitting because the pay is not enough to live on. Put more on register and department and stop blaming associates for bad customer service scores when we can't get off register to help anyone. You want more business then pay us better and find a way to keep those of us who bust our butts there. Including making up your mind and not giving confusing misguided information and decisions all day! You can't make customers happy or make more sales if we don't have enough people on the floor!!

I worked at Kohl's (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of training and options to volunteer in your community

    Cons

Employers don't care about their employees or customers, only care about credit and rewards cards. Threatened to fire if you didn't meet their expectations. Told me "I don't care if the customer leaves angry because at least they applied for our credit card, even if they were denied"

    Advice to Management

Work on your professionalism and actually care about your customers.

I have been working at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are friendly and supportive. Some customers can be nice. That it's only a part time job.

    Cons

    Management is not the best.
    Cut hours.
    Less staff than needed.
    Rude customers.
    Super intensely high paced environment.
Overwhelming tasks for a single associate.

    Advice to Management

Be more understand and supportive of your team.
Also be more reasonable when it comes to the tasks assigned to a single associate. Assign tasks in pairs, it gets things done faster. Do not have MJM back up every time POS has 2 people in line to check out. Favoritism needs to stop.

    Pros

    Friendly Customers, Nice Store Enviornment

    Cons

Everything else. Especially the Kohls charge sign ups.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on kohls charge sign ups and don't let the number of sign ups correlate to the number of hours someone gets a weak.
