I have been working at Kohler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best paying business within a 5-10 mile radius, when you include the large amount of overtime.

    Cons

Nepotism, favoritism, deception, lack of transparency, harsh working conditions, and no upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Stop and take a look at the people you currently treat like cattle and ask yourself, how long can this be sustained? The obvious answer is before your eyes.

I have been working at Kohler full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dental, vision, health 401k, earned vacation time

    Cons

Not family oriented.. you will work every weekend regardless of what you are told before u start working. They push workers to gain their bonuses at end of yr and month. They do not care about the employee u only a hole to fill and the turn over rate is becoming high once again.. you will work every friday after every holiday thats your punishment for being off. U work in straight heat no matter if it summer or winter...the bosses and u per management run around like a chicken with their heads cut off when bosses up north are coming in..stressing everyone out on a daily basis.. moral is so low nobody even smiles anymore

    Advice to Management

Learn to stop stress not obe but all your employees.. stop having your little men syndromes and if u learn to actually listen them maybe u may succeed alot better than every one hating every one of u. Kohler Wisconsin big wigs need to show up without notice to really see what's going on in this plant.

    Pros

Nothing. It's been a very long time since I was this disengaged at work. Quite honestly I'm shocked the rating is above a 3.

    Cons

Communication is poor at best up and down the chain. Beware of the bait and switch if you do take a job here. Your reward for being a top performer is more work, and maybe a pat on the back if you are lucky. The raises are less than generous for top performance or promotions. Most companies publish their pay scales on company intranet sites. Not here, it remains a mystery, so when you are applying internally you have no idea where the role you are interested lands in terms of pay or rank. Fringe benefits are non existent, and diversity stinks. Making a big push to promote the average talent inside the company because the high performers leave after a couple years because they can get the respect and pay elsewhere. Too many directors reporting to directors and vice presidents reporting to vice presidents.

    Advice to Management

Quit micromanaging and flatten the organization. Too many chiefs not enough indians. Bring in more outside talent at higher management levels this place needs a culture change. Too many executives that have been with the company a long time overseeing the same problems year after year.

    Pros

You can make some pretty good cash in the first few weeks 780/850 a week!

    Cons

The only difference between Kohler and Limestone Correctional Facility is that Kohler allows you to go home at night!

    Advice to Management

    Change upper management

    Pros

Beautiful merchandise, great location, and interesting customer base, consisting primarily of designers, decorators, and architects, and their clients in the "one percent".

    Cons

Poor work environment. A revolving door, most sales associates leave within six months, due to unfair distribution of accounts. Two people have all the profitable accounts, five other sales people (way too many) fight over the leftovers. A commission against draw system, with impossible to reach commission quotas, coupled with constant pressure to both go out of the showroom to find and open new, profitable accounts, and simultaneously be present in the showroom, in case one of your accounts comes in to purchase. A very stressful cutthroat environment. Everyone, including management and support staff, seem unhappy, or angry, or both.

    Advice to Management

Cut your sales staff back to 4 or 5 people maximum, and re-distribute existing accounts in a fair manner, so everyone is on a level playing field. To upper corporate management, invest some money in marketing the Baker division of Kohler- Stop treating Baker like a stepchild.

I worked at Kohler (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great people to work with. Employees are like family; they don't always get along, but they get the job done.

    Cons

Recent changes in management are not working. Morale is low and employees are under a great deal of stress. Even though they are a family, you cannot trust your little brother to back you up when you need it.

    Advice to Management

Prepare for plant closure. Employees don't care about your success unless you care about them. And you don't care about them.
