I worked at Kona Grill full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Loved working for the chef. He would work hard for you. The chef was the best chef I've ever worked for.

    Cons

They run a very skimpy skeleton crew. They don't do overtime. Sometimes you need help and we don't have any extra labor.

    Advice to Management

Please stop running a skeleton crew. It doesn't hurt to have one or two extra employees to help out to get the work done and that would save you on your overtime.

    Pros

    Consistent money,

It may not be the most lucrative serving job in the world but you can always count on making a livable wage.

    Cons

All restaurant management's general lack of respect for their employees

    Advice to Management

The less turnover you have. the less knowledge of good service and ingredients constantly leave the front door, the better the employee morale, the better the guest experience, the less guest attrition...

    Pros

You can make a lot of money with the right shifts. You have the option of working fast paced cocktail shifts or slower dining room shifts.

    Cons

money is very hit or miss. A lot of things that go wrong in the shifts are out of your control but you are still held responsible for them.

I worked at Kona Grill full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very helpful staff most of the time, very fast paced and fun environment, hard work that pays off in cash tips MOST days. Depending on your location and clientele.

    Cons

Great management is few and far between. When a great manager comes along, they are smothered by overwhelming lack of reinforcement.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees happy by going above and beyond! Excellence is hard to expect of people when you only provide the bare minimum.

I worked at Kona Grill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid-back environment, fairly easy job, flexible hours. Good job for high school students to work after school and weekends. Some longtime employees.

    Cons

Moody people, some difficult to work with. I was there almost 2 years and didn't receive a raise from receiving minimum wage until my last 2 months there. Favoritism for individuals who have worked there longer. A lot of rollover of employees.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved with your employees, but trust that they can perform the job you hired them to do.

I worked at Kona Grill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun people to work with
Fun area to shop before or after

    Cons

    Very strict about cellphone usage
    No food discount
    No sitting down
    Dress code

    Advice to Management

Get better management - most managers were rude and asked a lot from the employee.. The pay isn't even that great. It's an OK job to have o the side, to pair with college. Not stable or fun for a full time.
