I worked at Kona Grill full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fusion style sushi restaurant with emphasis on happy hour. Very modern decor and a very diverse menu with a full kitchen. The restaurant itself is pretty big and can easily accommodate large parties.

    Cons

Long hours on your feet as with most restaurants. A very diverse menu means dealing with tons of preparation work and having to scramble and coordinate for larger orders.

    Advice to Management

Make use of ingredients and sauces that are already available instead of having one ingredient for one dish. It would help with waste and production.

Think out of the box. Just because something has been always done a certain, sometimes change is good and productive.

I have been working at Kona Grill (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast money. Flexible schedules most of the time. And if you know what your doing they leave you alone most of the time.

    Cons

Politics. It's always the same. Favorites are played for the good shift. There is too many servers on the floor so money is limited. No food runner for a million dollar restaurant they should have food runners.

    Advice to Management

Up your budget a little. And get rid of sushi tip out. It's painful for a server to give up $30 in their tips to someone who already gets paid like a line cook.

I worked at Kona Grill part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got the job as a hostess at Kona Grill when I was a senior in college. Not only were they super accommodating to my student schedule, but the restaurant closes at 11pm, so it helped that it wasn't too late when I got off of work. Also, the food discount was a bonus, especially as a college student.

    Cons

As a hostess, we were made to clean the bathrooms, which I found to be an odd task for a hostess.
