I worked at Konsus (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good idea for working model, allows for flexibility, interesting work

    Cons

Americans can not live on $10-12 an hour, I can make more working as a cashier at Trader joe's or Aldis -- which does not require a college degree, software knowledge, expensive graphic design software subscriptions, and a pricey computer. This is not fair to experienced graphic designers, and this is yet another thing like e-lance that cheapens the industry and is turning graphic design and illustration into a field that barely pays enough to eat.

I don't feel like working 39 hours a week and still being homeless. FYI in my state (NJ) they have figured that it takes AT LEAST $20 an hour to be able to secure a 2 bedroom apartment. get a clue....

The good reviews must either be fakes or offshore employees that can afford to live on $10 an hour.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue about market rate salaries. Get off of flex jobs and other job site.... this is not a legit job opportunity for anyone with experience, just another scam that suits offshore workers and cheapens American salaries. A global economy is only good if the salary suits ALL economies.....

"Paying 10-12$/hr to Experienced Designers who paid 100K for education is appaling"

I worked at Konsus (Less than a year)

    Pros

Your only pro is that you can work remotely. So the company takes 90% of the money for themselves. (Yes, design clients pay at least 100$/hr to agencies. It is absolutely offensive to underpay designers who may have various reasons to want to work remotely, including disability and family obligations. The "normal" starting salary for a junior-mid designer is about 50k (25$/hr) plus benefits, and for an experienced designer it is 65-90k, or a minimum of 45$, but here you have to be the top performer to make 40k a year which is quickly becoming a new minimum wage.

    Cons

Lower pay than a checkout clerk in ShopRite expect you have student debt for going to college.

    Advice to Management

You will absolutely not attract or retain actual talent with this setup.

    Pros

    Cons

Low pay, poor management, poor chain of command, they pay low and CHARGE HIGH - just another freelance site that does not do much for employees

    "Freelance Graphic Design Application Process"

Former Freelancer - Digital Engagement Strategist in Washington, DC

I worked at Konsus (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Straightforward online application form.
Some questions infer they want to get to know you as a person.

    Cons

Spent a good amount of time answering questions and then find out they have a policy where every graphic designer starts at $10/hour. Your rate may increase if your work is good. This is fine if you're an entry-level designer but if you have more experience don't bother wasting your time with their lengthy application.

    Advice to Management

List the hourly rate on your job description.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Konsus as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fast-paced
    Good clients' contacts
Great co-workers, both PMs and Freelancers.

    Cons

As a Project Manager you end up working most of the time for free.
    Not worth it financially.
Both founders seem great guys, but Konsus vision does not reflect what they're saying and trying to achieve.
    No career growth.
    No benefits.

    Advice to Management

Being stuck with corporate mentality ruins the startup culture, and eventually you won't be able to get top talent working for you.

I have been working at Konsus full-time

    Pros

The company is full of nice people and colleagues. Most of the upper level management are very nice and there is a startup culture going on.

The vision of the company is working totally remotely, which can give you tons of flexibility.

Good bonuses and a clear path of promotion up to certain point.

Lots of different projects and exposure to different sectors in the world.

    Cons

Sometimes work extra hours for free. No benefits whatsoever, which makes the payment not as ideal.

Poor control over SP delay in timings, which lead to apologizes to clients when something goes wrong.

    Advice to Management

We are innovating how working is done. Already envisioning a different approach to standard office work.

Envision and lead a new concept for the word "benefits". Doesn't have to be the same the others do. Konsus is already different. Its good, but could be great.

I have been working at Konsus full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours means projects come in at all hours. Like any business, you'll need to put in the time at the beginning to reap the rewards later on. This means you'll have to pick up whatever projects come your way without being too choosy. Otherwise, you'll be losing out on the hours you get paid for.

    Cons

Many dud requests that come in. Not that it's the fault of the management but a lot of requests just aren't from legitimate sources or have no interest whatsoever to actually start a project. Which may lead to wasted time.
