    Pros

    Cons

Being a small family owned business there can be limited resources.

I have been working at Korman Communities full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers
    Great residents
    Fun job
    Beautiful apartments
    Great 401K matching

    Cons

Corporate is full of micromanagers, there are too many bosses
You have to answer them instantly but they take forever to answer you or ignore emails
    No raises
They don't care about you or even your property and residents, only their bottom line
    Expensive insurance

    Advice to Management

Give more breathing room to the individual properties. Someone who works on the property knows their own property better than someone who sits in an office all day and never interacts with residents. You know what people want by talking to them, and that's what the office staff does. Nothing is ever good enough for corporate upper management.

    Pros

    -Structured & Organized
    -Professional
    -Rapidly company growth
    -Opportunity for promotion
-Properties throughout the US & UK
    -Quality team
    -Bonus
    -Incentives
    -Discounts

    Cons

    -Work/ Life balance
-Expensive Uniform Wardrobe (Pro: seasonal allowances and 50% off dry-cleaning)

    Advice to Management

What a wonderful company and team to have been apart of. From top to bottom their values, mission and vision is immolated throughout.

Upon working for Korman Communities I had a Korman team member tell me that "you will earn every dollar you make". Meaning, you will work hard and you will be held to a high standard. This statement stood true. Your talents and skills will be challenged and there will be an expectation in which you will be expected to meet, however, you will grow both as a professional and an individual and you will find yourself taking pride in both your work and the company as a whole.

Work life balance should be discussed and determined upon employment. My position required a lot of emailing and bidding. With properties throughout the nation, emails, bids, and phone calls come all hours of the day/ week. Be sure to define your work hours and when you'll be expected to answer work related content after hours.

They do a great job attract a wide variety of quality talent and retaining it. You will be surrounded by an encouraging and supportive team. Highly recommend.

I have been working at Korman Communities full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

good company, good benefits, very competitive 401K match.

    Cons

no room to grow, management lies BIG Time. Everyone is expandable no matter how long or how good of an employee, they will let you go in a split.

    Advice to Management

Fight for your employees instead of bonuses, without the hard working people on the ground your club house will crumble.

I worked at Korman Communities full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I don't have anything good to say about this awful company. It was the worst year of my life and wish I never accepted the job.

    Cons

High stress jobs with low pay. They make promises they don't keep and fire anyone at anytime with no cause, just because you have a mind and offer opinions and solutions to improve the company. Consider yourself warned.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at who you have in your Regional Management and VP positions. They are truly evil people.

I worked at Korman Communities full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It was a union position with all the related benefits and salary, but that comes more from the union than the company's generosity.

    Cons

It is a small, clicky, family run company. The owners surround themselves with 'yes' and allow them to spoon feed them ideas, no matter how ridiculous. The individual property managers and maintenance managers tend to be people of low moral character and carve out their own fiefdoms at their respective properties. Obviously questional ethical practices abound as a result.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with real experience with no personal connection to anyone else in the company. Get rid of nepotism and the 'good ol' boy'/ alumni scene. This is the only way to bring the company's culture into the 21st century.

    Cons

Difficult to get a bonus. I have not received a bonus in 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Giving front line management teams a bonus once in a while can go a long way.
