I have been working at Koto Japanese Steak House part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Management sometime lenient about schedule.
If you prove them that you are a hard worker, they will show their appreciation

    Cons

    Some workers are:
not well trained, yet are already hired, hence, causes slowing down the other workers
kind of lazy - doing things just enough to get by, sometimes not even enough to be called done.
individualistic (not willing to help, even though they know you need help)
not able to speak English well.

    Advice to Management

Train the workers better before hiring them.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Pretty Atmosphere and free meal during shift, and that was the only perk of working there..

    Cons

Low pay for such an upscale restaurant, Management has cold / poor communication skills, They are not keen on hiring those outside of the Chinese race. If your not Chinese and can communicate in their language they will quickly have you replaced with someone that "fits" the part.. Basically they will use you as a fill in and then not give you an explanation why they fired you other than sorry it didn't work out, here is your paycheck..

    Advice to Management

Don't low ball your employees unless you want them to perform at the rate of their pay. Also be honest and communicate a lot better.

    Long Hours (8-12)
    Work Every Weekend
    Organization and Systems Needed

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees better and they will work harder for you. They make your money for you!

    Pros

Flexibility; interesting; sushi; extremely lax management; easy money

    Cons

Constantly changing codes of conduct; punishment for misconduct (e.g. being friends with coworkers); impossible to get time off

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. This is a professional establishment not a clubhouse. Decided on a set of standards and stick with them. Stop literally doling out punishments for ridiculous things.
