Needed help before 3G, but 3G made it worse

Sep 5, 2020 - Associate Director in Chicago, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

a lot of great people to work with, camaraderie many great brands and products nice office

    Cons

nepotism among the Brazilians and 3G finance people merger purchase made the company over leveraged zero based budgeting meant fighting for necessities - for example a hundred dollar training for a new hire to replace the headcount that was cut constant headcount cuts difficult expectations and workload resulted in a revolving door of talent they got rid of annual merit reviews and turned it into a clandestine process most benefits eroded over the years I worked there management by objectives (MBO) was a big carrot and bigger stick - huge bonuses that could be wiped out by poor sales or EBITA meant you could go the whole year performing well to receive nothing; MBO structure created infighting and promoted number manipulation, a large factor likely which lead to the SEC investigation lack of innovation and reinvestment due to cost cutting focus, other CPGs were busy growing their brand and consumer base in better/fresher options, Kraft Heinz was busy mixing ketchup with mayonnaise. Other large CPG food companies's stock has grown steadily over past five years. General lack of strategic focus, too many initiatives that changed too frequently in order to distract from poor results

Grueling Culture with No Change in Sight

Nov 28, 2019 - Associate Director in Chicago, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The salary is competitive if you speak up and demand to be paid equal to your peers. Kraft is infamous for its "Meritocracy" culture which essentially means promoted to a higher position but paid less than what that position is typically paid. There are still great people here which is what has kept me here. Great brands as well.

    Cons

The SLT talks a big game regarding change and employee wellness but ultimately falls short. The expectations from a bonus perspective are unrealistic. 50% bonus targets, but what management doesn't tell you is that is multiplied by how the total company does, so i have made 100% of my personal bonus, which will be multiplied by a 30% and ultimate will get a regular sized bonus. The workload expected does not warrant average bonuses. Employees are shamed if they leave before 6pm. Health and Wellness isn't actually a concern despite the weekly emails from HR reminding us to de-stress. What would help employees de-stress is a culture that discourages managers to cancel employees Dr appts, workout classes, put on 7am regular meetings.

Avoid KHC - Terrible Place to Work

Mar 2, 2020 - Associate Director in Chicago, IL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Downtown Chicago Office Location

    Cons

    - You know how you have to shove a butter knife into a glass bottle of Heinz ketchup to get it out? That’s what it’s like working here. Sometimes you’re the bottle and sometimes you’re the butter knife. Neither cut the mustard.
