    Great Company!

Mar 10, 2023 - Integration Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Most defense contractors of similar size have similar benefits. The one advantage Kratos Defense has over their competition is the employee stock purchase program that offers a 15% discount.

    Cons

Working for a contractor this size can be stressful due to uncertainty with awarded contracts.

Avoid them when it comes to cyber

    Pros

The building was nice to work in.

    Cons

    * They claim to be about family but when you are a parent and need to get your child. They make a problem out of it, * Retaliation for doing the right thing. An issue arose that needed to be dealt with and was told to stand down which was unethical. Upon reporting the issue, management stepped in and punished the team. *Misrepresentation of positions. Hiring someone to do one thing and then telling them they are now doing four things is misrepresenting the role and hiring under false pretenses. * The management needs a total overhaul. The lack of unprofessional conduct and legitimately caring about the contract and roles. * The toxic work environment. There was a lot of turnover for good reason. But if a rumor started one was leaving they were ostracized from people and treated like they wore a scarlet letter. * Offboarding is treated like a walk of shame. When having to quit they make you walk around with your sheet to have signed off on throughout the building. Given the toxic environment, it makes what should be normal a very anxiety-riddled affair.

    Pros

Holiday schedule was pretty nice and people I worked with were even better.. insurance was decent.

    Cons

No way of getting promoted even when filling out OJT forms, no room for growth or opportunities but will ask to go above and beyond just to get the job done. On top of that...got laid off during the holidays and reapplied like they encouraged me to do but didn't even get hired, until a month after they gave the position to someone else.. so what was the point of getting my hopes up. Crazy thing is they knew all along no one was getting a promotion until a massive lay off occured...now I'm assuming promotions will be able to happen since they are in budget.

    Pros

Good pay. My hiring manager was very good at his job.

    Pros

Learning environment. Interesting projects. Awesome teams to work with.

    Cons

Engineering lab is not probably managed and sways between micromanaged and wild west. Vital tools for diagnosing R&D are not calibrated/serviced. Project funding is frequently overran or cut off mid-project. Pay is considerably low for the market. Layoffs due to mismanagement.
